Tale as Old as Time

Beauty and the Beast has arrived for the first time on Blu-ray Hi-Def as the second installment to the company’s new Diamond Collection.

The Blu-ray transformation reveals the magic, music and majesty of the film as never before experienced with state-of-the-art picture restoration, pristine 7.1 Digital Surround Sound and hours of additional viewing experiences that include behind the scenes features, deleted scenes, enhanced music tracks, immersive games and more.

The first of only two animated films ever to be nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture (the second is 2009’s Up), Beauty and the Beast earned six Academy Award® nominations and won two Oscars® in 1992 for Best Original Song (“Beauty and the Beast”) and Best Original Score.

Unavailable in any form since 2003, Beauty and the Beast will be released from the Disney vault for a limited time only, arriving on a Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack (2 Blu-ray Discs + DVD) October 5th, followed seven weeks later with the release of a 2-Disc standard definition DVD on November 23rd.

Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney animated film. I love the story, characters and music. I even saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway years ago, and it was spectacular! We have had the movie on VHS for some time now, but watching it with my children on Blu-Ray is wonderful. The transformation is truly magical. It’s the movie I have known and loved, only better!

This is definitely one that I will cherish and hopefully keep protected from my two-year-old’s sticky fingers.

  4. My favorite song is Be Our Guest. I admit, though, that that’s because it’s the only one I can think of. I’d like to watch again to find out which one I *really* like best. 🙂

  5. My favorite song is the one at the beginning as she is walking through the village. I don’t really know what it is called except Belle’s song. It gets stuck in my head and I sing it all day!

  6. We have all the disney classics on VHS. My daughter and I love this movie. She loves Chip and I love the music. I would say our favorite song is “Be our Guest!!”

  13. It finally happened. My 4-year-old fell in love with the Disney Princesses. She even told me yesterday that she wishes she were a “REAL princess.”

    Needless to say, she would be thrilled to win a copy of “Beauty and the Beast” (she’s never seen it).

  17. I loveds this movie on VHS also, with my first Grand Daughter & now I have two more little girls to introduce this wonderful movie to! My favorite song is the Gaston song……….oh The Beauty & the Beast dance song……….oh both! I love them all!

  29. This, I’m pretty sure, is my favorite Disney movie of all time! My favorite song would have to be either Belle, from the beginning of the movie, or Beauty and the Beast, from when they are in the ballroom!

  31. I love the Beauty and the Beast song..I love Beauty and the Beast the movie..My kids haven’t ever seen it yet..I am going to have to purchase the classics so they can watch them and an excuse to watch them again for me…

  44. I loved this movie when I was little and it is my daughter’s favorite now, we watch it online alot. I would LOVE to watch it in our livingroom for the first time ever.

    Her birthday is coming up and I plan to buy it for her gift, but if I won it that would be great and I could buy something else to go with it!

  52. I absolutely love the “Belle” song. I identified with that song every time I watch my worn VHS copy. I always have a book and my sisters call me Belle everynow and again. 🙂

  55. I have not seen it, actually, like many of the Disney films until recently when we started to watch them with my 3 year old. I feel like a reborn kid discovering all these films, and the joy of a 3 year old watching them for the first time is amazing. Cant wait to add this one to our list of films watched together.

  71. With 4 little Princesses, ages 4 and under at my house, we love this movie! My favorite song is Something There. “There’s something sweet, and almost kind…” I’ll probably be singing it all day now. 🙂

  76. I absolutely loved the “Be Our Guest” number the best!
    This was my favorite story when I was a little girl (albeit not Disney’s) because the Daddy was getting a rose for his daughter, yet there was tragedy and triumph in it all, and I was hooked. I remember having my Mom read Beauty and the Beast to me as often as she would and for the longest time (as a child) I carried around a raggedy well worn copy of a pop-up book edition.
    I’d love to share this movie with my daughters, even though I wonder about the message inherent in loving the “beast”. 🙁 I think it is one for discussion…

  82. The Beauty and the Beast story is never ending. Actually, with all the fairy tale stories we have for me Beauty and the beast is the most dramatic and meaningful. I am already 30 but I still love it and until now I keep on watching it but of course with my kids already.

  85. Our high school drama group is doing Beauty and the Beast in the Spring. They are able to rent costumes from a national touring company so it should be great. My favorite song is “Something There”.

  86. I LOVE Beauty and the Beast!! I was so exited when I saw the commercial that it was coming out of the Disney Vault!! Favorite song…. Hmm its a hard choice, love all the songs! If I have to choose, it would be “Be our Guest”

  88. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite of the Disney Princess Movies. I have always identified with Belle and her love of reading. It is so hard to chose a favorite song from the movie, but it would probably have to be “Provincial Life”.
