Anna here with a fun idea to include in your kid’s school lunch boxes. Thanks to Lunchbox Time for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
How is the Back-to-School routine going at your house? Are you getting back into the rhythm of packing up backpacks every night, filling lunch boxes each morning and fitting in homework somewhere between all your kids’ extracurricular activities.
Back to school season can be so busy, especially after a relaxing, non-structured summer. If your kids are anything like mine, the first few days (or weeks) of the school year can be a bit rough. Since I work from home, it is especially hard for me and my kids to get used to not being around each other all day long.
Since I know that we have this adjustment each year I like to add little notes to their lunch boxes so that they get a little “Hello” or “I love you” from me in the middle of their day.
I have to make sure and keep it “non-cheesy” and not “too-lovey” or they will be embarrassed!
That’s why I LOVE these Did You Know? Cards from Lunchbox Time! When they asked me if I’d like to receive a set of the cards I jumped at the chance. I knew these cards would check off all boxes….
- Fun note from mom or dad
- Interesting facts
- Not embarrassing for the older kids
I love that the Lunchbox Time cards also have an area where you can add your own notes as well. This would be especially nice when the kids have a big test and you want to give them a little extra encouragement.
My kids love finding these Lunchbox Time Cards in their lunch every day, they get to hear from me and they also get to find out a new interesting fact. What a great conversation starter for them and their friends as well!

These would be great to pop into his lunch as conversation starters with his friends.

My hubby and I are adopting two little ones. Sabastion is 6 and Nataylia is 8. Yesterday, we played a game where we each took turns saying what we like about each other. One of the things Nataylia said about me is that she likes how I try to teach her all the time, whether it be helping her with school stuff, or even just teaching her trivia that most of her friends don’t know.
Ironically, one of the things I love about her is that she’s like a little sponge, and soaks up all the knowledge I try to cram into her brain. I think that receiving a “Did you know?” card in her lunchbox daily would be the highlight of her lunch break at school. And, it will bring us closer, because it will cause her to think about me while she’s at school, as well as provide some info that she can teach me when she gets home from school 🙂
