After Olivia had finished competing on the weekend and celebrated her bronze medal, she decided to relax and help me out with my team photographer duties. I was shooting with both my Canon 5D Mark iii and my Canon 7D, so I let Olivia take over my 7D for a bit.

Life Update 10 Years Later

It’s now July 2025, and I’m reading through my old blog posts and remembering the good old days when my children were young and the blogosphere was bursting with activity.

The good news is that the last decade has blessed my family in many ways. It’s been a ton of work… a ton!!! Raising two kids with ADHD is not for the weak of heart. But they are doing well and I’m so thankful that I was able to work at home blogging while raising my family.

Olivia has now graduated from high school and Jackson has graduated from university.

And throughout the last 10 years, Olivia has kept cheerleading.

Yes, cheer has been a huge part of Olivia’s life and not only has she been on cheer teams, she volunteered for many years as a coaching assistant and then became a cheer coach.

She now works regularly as a cheer coach and is also on a fabulous cheer team.

Olivia didn’t end up loving photography… she showed some interest when she was little, but she preferred to be in front of the camera rather than behind it. Susan’s daughters Julia and Sophia took photography classes in high school and Julia has been the one to learn the most about photography and assist me in photoshoots.

I’ve continued to photograph cheer competitions and I’ve likely taken hundreds of thousands of photos of cheerleading over these 10 years.

Cheer truly was the best activity choice we could have made for her back in 2015.
