Santa lets us cyber elves skip the pointy shoes and little hats, but we are working just as hard as his elves up north.
The lights in our office rarely go out and the computers hum away all night long. Yup – this cyber workshop is pretty much a 24 hour a day operation. Christmas is coming and we are doing our best to help get some of the coolest toys delivered on time!
Susan and I not only promote other work-at-home-moms, we are work-at-home-moms! Along with our mom Joan, we own two stores, www.pedalcarsandretro.com and www.a-rocking-horse-to-love.com.
At Pedal Cars and Retro Collectables, we sell all kinds of fantastic ride on toys like pedal cars, golf carts, etc and even a special caboose trailer bike for kids and adults with special needs. And for the retro crowd, we have Crosley record players, coke machines, retro phones and more.
At A Rocking Horse To Love, we not only have a huge variety of rocking horses but adorable plush toddler rockers, children’s furniture and more.
So of course Christmas is our busiest time of year. I tell Jackson that Grandma is too busy to play because she is helping Santa Claus and if she doesn’t work really hard the kids won’t get their presents! (He misses his Grandma – she is lucky if she manages to get four hours of sleep a night right now let alone have extra time to play with our kids.)
When we found out that Susan and I were both expecting babies in the beginning of the shopping season we nearly fainted. And our poor mom is getting the worst of it as she works around the clock to make up for our busyness with the babies. We have finally had to hire some staff for our stores. Up until this season, we have managed to do it all ourselves. But with two newborns, we simply had to get some help.
This season, we have been blown away by how popular the Big Wheel has become. It is our most popular product by far at the moment. They are sold out everywhere – but we have them!!! (Even we are sold out of the Princess Big Wheel, but we do have the Original Big Wheel in stock.)
Toy trends sure are funny. One season something can just become such a hot item. Perhaps the Big Wheel is so popular this year because it is made in the USA.
Two years ago we bought Jackson a Big Wheel and he loves it. Julia loves it too and now Jackson can’t get it back from her!
So what about you? Are you busy this holiday season? What hot toys are you buying your kids?

Big Wheels are great. I would love to have one as an adult, but what they have like them is way out of my price range. We got our daughter a trike with a five point harness and a handle, but we are moving soon so we havn’t put it together yet. We got some floating bath blocks from right start and they are really nice, my husband has more fun with them than she does right now. Our little girl just turned one in November and we took a chance and put up the tree this year. I’m so glad we did, she doesn’t bother it much and it helps with the spirit of the season. A lot of my friends are into wodden toys, which are big where we are in Germany. Merry Christmas, happy shopping everyone!

I remember my brother and I had Big Wheels. We rode them until the wheels literally fell apart!

The cash register is at Target. Happy Shopping!

Definitely busy! Work full-time, 3 kids (ages 6, 3 & 3 mos) and trying to fit in all the holiday stuff that needs to happen! Completely stressed out!
Hmm – we usually don’t go for the hot trends – but Webkinz are still popular at our house. Although I took at look at your store and we may just HAVE to get the space shuttle for our son! He would just fall over from excitement!

It is funny what the hot trends are of the season. You can’t get a Disney Princess Cash Register easily either. They are a $25 toy going for $50 on ebay.

extremly busy. with two toddlers and an overdue baby, that doesn’t seem to want to come out. i just can’t find any time to do anything. my husband has finals in college and refuse to except help from in laws because it’s like taking care of another little kid.
dora dora dora, my kids want nothing but dora stuff. which is hard to shop for because most of the toys have been recalled.

We have older kids now so we’ve gotten away from a lot of gift giving at this time of the year, hoping it will helps us to stay away from all the commercialism of this season. I’m thankful for online stores, like your FABULOUS ones so I can avoid all the offline craziness.
I always thought the Big Wheel was a great idea – for some reason it seems like the kids have an easier time learning to peddle one of those things rather than a regular tricycle but it could be because I thought the look was fun! It’s amazing how it really has never gone out of style and just keeps going.
And we’re thankful to Grandma for being there for you all! What a blessing!
