Introducing The Sampler

5 Minutes for Mom brings you exclusive samplings from the best mom blogs…

“May I have a taste of this one and that one, please? Oh… and could I try that one too?” I love those brilliant little spoons. Just don’t stand behind me in the line up. If given the chance, I would sample every bucket of ice cream.

But what better way to find your favorite flavors then to have an endless supply of tiny spoons and someone patiently handing over sample after sample.

And what better way to discover talented bloggers then to sample what they have to offer?

sampler-sampling-140pix.jpgThe Sampler is a new weekly column here at 5 Minutes for Mom.

Designed to showcase different mom bloggers and their writing style, each week The Sampler will feature an original post by a mom blogger so you can have a taste of what she has to offer. If it suits you, then click over to her blog and maybe even add her to your daily reads.

(If you would like to be one of our featured bloggers, please read The Sampler Guidelines. We will be featuring a variety of mom bloggers, both new and experienced. We are looking for original, family-friendly content that represents your writing style.)

Hosting The Sampler, is Shera, from A Frog in My Soup. Shera will write occasional posts for The Sampler as well as managing and editing all submissions.

Before we kick off The Sampler next week, I thought you all might like the chance to get to know Shera a bit better.

Shera we are so happy to have you join the 5 Minutes for Mom team! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Shera and my hubby and I have been married for nearly 15 years now. We have 6 sons, ages twelve, nine, eight, four, and, 2 two-year old twins.

Six children?!? Wow!

Well, we had always planned on having four, but God with His Divine knowledge decided that we should have six. Apparently he figured he needed to be sneaky about it and blessed us with twins!

How did you get into blogging?

I have been blogging for a little over a year and a half. I began blogging as a way to journal all of the events and thoughts that I usually would have put into scrapbooks, because after the twins were born regular scrapbooking just wasn’t happening. I had no idea that it would become what it is today or that I would find my love for writing all over again. Blogging is a very unique thing in that it can awaken things in you and help you grow in ways you never could have imagined. My blog is just one more way that I can offer encouragement and support to other moms, something I feel very called to do! I offer Mommy Reality Checks or Life With Boys posts each week and I have to admit that each and every one of them is inspired by events and insight from my own life!!!

Why “A Frog In My Soup?”

I knew that I wanted a domain name for my blog to make it simpler for family and friends to find. Honestly the name just suddenly popped into my mind one night. No, I have never actually had a frog in my soup, but I have 6 boys and, well, you just never know! REALLY!!

With six boys and a blog, do you fit anything else into your busy days?

Aside from blogging and raising my sons (not necessarily in that order), I am also a web designer and I own Sweet ‘n Simple Design. I offer a variety of design options that are exclusively for wahms and moms, and my most popular product BY FAR is Mommy Blogs! I am passionate about making sure that each design is as individual as the mom behind it and no two blog designs are exactly alike (or even close in my opinion).

Thanks so much Shera! I don’t know how you have time with six kids to blog, design and take on the task of running The Sampler, but we are so grateful that you are crazy enough to try!

Shera will be here next week, kicking off The Sampler. If you want to be considered as one of our future featured bloggers, head over to The Sampler Information and Guidelines.
