5 Minutes for Books:
A Big Book Giveaway for Kids of All Ages

One thing that I love about books is that they are so readily available. With Barnes and Noble and Amazon still offering guaranteed Christmas delivery (not to mention gift cards!), with the wide variety of books out there — instructive or enjoyable or beautiful — books are appropriate for so many on your holiday lists.

The folks at Simon and Schuster have put together a great giveaway package that will go out to one of our winners (U.S. or Canada residents). The winner will get one copy of EACH of these books.

If you are still looking for ideas to fill some stockings, consider these books for kids of all ages:

For the Family:

Fablehaven Boxed Set
By Brandon Mull

For the Little Ones:

Snow Bugs
By David A. Carter (Lauren’s review at 5 Minutes for Books)

Olivia Acts Out (Jennifer’s review at 5 Minutes for Books)
By Jodie Shepherd

For Tween Girls:

Dork Diaries (My 11-year-old daughter Amanda thought this one was pretty cute)
By Rachel Renee Russell

For Tween Boys:

Pendragon Boxed Set
By D. J. MacHale

For Teens:

Robert Pattinson Fated for Fame
By Mel Williams

Taylor Launter Overnight Sizzlin’ Sensation

By Mel Williams

The Hollow
By Jessica Verday

For Teens — and Adults who are young at heart!

Leviathan (Since we are fans of Westerfeld’s Uglies series, I’m looking forward to this one)
By Scott Westerfeld

Night World No. 1
By L. J. Smith

*Disclosure: I did not receive copies of these books to review, but Simon and Schuster is generously providing a copy of all of them to one of you.

The winner will get a copy of each book listed, but as your entry, leave a comment saying which book interests you most, and who in your life would appreciate it.

We will not run a column next week, so we will leave this open for two weeks, announcing the winner in our column on January 4.

The winner of the beautiful Andrew Zuckerman books Bird and Creature is #34 Wendy M.

This is a difficult choice for me, as I am quick to read my ‘children’s’ books as well as they are! 🙂 I bought the first 3 books of the “Warriors” series for my 9-year-old for Christmas (as well as the classic “Tom Sawyer”) and he is eagerly gulping them down while my teen is busy with Brsinger and looking forward to reading the “Graceling” book she received. The book(s) that I am most interested in (because I think we ALL will enjoy them) are the “Fablehaven” and “Pendragon” sets. 🙂

As for your need to discuss your children’s health issues, what about starting a new anonymous blog. Just don’t let anyone know who you are and don’t use your kids’ names. Use fictional names. Just an idea.

My kids would love Olivia Acts Out, but I would love to get Leviathan! 🙂 And then the Dork Diaries would go to my sister-in-law for her 6th grade class library.

Oh! oh! oh! We could use so many of those! The only ones we wouldn’t need personally are the ones for “little ones,” and it’s not like we don’t have friends that would love those!!

    What an awesome giveaway!

My daughter is a tween, so she’d probably like the “Dork Diaries”.

My son is just turned into a teenager, but I’m sure he’d still enjoy the “Pendragon Boxed Set”
and would like the “Robert Pattinson Fated for Fame”.
