Fun DIY College Care Package To Celebrate Finals

Do you have a child in college, or who is going to college in the fall? This is Tonya here… and I’m excited to share with you a fun college care package idea whether your student is finishing up the school year, or heading off to college in the fall. Thank you to Warner Bros. Pictures for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

How To Make A Fun College Care Package

Inspired by Melissa McCarthy going back to college in her new movie LIFE OF THE PARTY, in theaters this Friday, I want to show you a fun way that your kids can record their college memories and display them in their dorm room.

Fun College Care Package

This makes such a fun DIY college care package! They will love taking photos with their friends throughout the year, including their graduation, and have something to look back on years from now.

That’s my son photographed above at his high school graduation. He’s a college student now working on his Associates in Automotive Technology. He’s completed all of his general education requirements, now begins the fun automotive classes. We cannot wait to celebrate once he’s finally done.

I just love these photos that I took of him during his graduation ceremony. He was so proud and he had his closest friends, myself, and his siblings there cheering him on.

The photo on the left made me laugh when I came across it. It reminded me so much of this image of Melissa McCarthy from the movie.

College Care Package

In this fun photo memory college care package I’ve put together I’ve included:

  • Chalkboard frame – which I’ll show you how to customize below
  • Photo props
  • Confetti poppers
  • Chalk pencils
  • Mini photo printer

How To Customize The Chalkboard Frame

Step 1: I placed a large round serving platter on the frame and then using a chalk pencil traced around the bottom only to create a curve. I wanted the chalk line to resemble a piece of string in a frame that you would clip photos to, only for this they would stick the photos on the line like they are hanging.

I then went over the lines with a chalk marker which won’t erase every time they reposition or replace photos on the board.

Step 2: Next, I wanted to create a fun saying across the top. The hashtag #LIFEOFTHEPARTY seemed fitting for this project, but you can get creative. You could put the year, or college life, your child’s name … the possibilities are endless. And, you are just using chalk so they can change it if they wish.

Chalkboard Collage

That’s it. Your kids will have a fun photo board to stick photos of their college experience so that they can display in their dorm room and take with them when they’ve finished college.

Don’t forget to include a packet of chalk pencils in your college care package. Chalk pencils aren’t as messy as sticks of chalk and perfect for the kids to write fun quotes, words, or draw around the photos too.
