Inspire Creativity with #BeautifulOops, a Giveaway Featuring Your Child’s Art

5 Minutes for Books‘ reviewer Dawn is happy to share a unique new activity book designed for children to create their own art out of silly prompts… and we have a giveaway that is truly one of a kind. Thanks to Workman Publishing for sending Dawn a copy of the book and providing a prize pack for our winner.

A totally unique and fun activity book for young artists

Do you have a child with an artistic eye? Someone who likes to draw, paint, imagine, and be silly? Barney Saltzberg has the perfect activity book to tap into that creativity. My Book of Beautiful Oops!: A Scribble It, Smear It, Fold It, Tear It Journal for Young Artists says a whole lot in that title, for it is a truly unique book that encourages children to produce art in wacky ways.

Open the book, and you’ll find splats and smears of bright colors, a torn page, and a crumpled piece of paper all just waiting to be transformed… into whatever a child can imagine. There’s even one page that’s perforated so that it can be torn out, ripped up, and then reattached to the journal however the artist likes. Sketches, patterns, illustrations, and photographs make up the “starter” images, and many colors abound among the pages.

It’s a common thing for children to be unencumbered in their creations of art. Many kids don’t question their abilities, because they’re drawing or painting just for the fun of it, and that’s what this book absolutely inspires. Complete fun. Joy in the act of creation!

Watch below for a peek of the book in action:

My 11-year-old daughter was intrigued by this book at first glance, and before I could even take a look at it, she was thumbing through it. Her first question was, of course, “Can I have this book?” Though I asked her to hold off on starting any journaling before I was finished with reviewing it, I know she’s already thinking of some ways to make it her own. What better time than the summer to get such a book, right? My Book of Beautiful Oops! is available for purchase now, in stores or online.

If you think you know a child who would love this unique artistic journal, be sure to enter our giveaway. One lucky winner will receive a copy of the book and a beautiful keychain created from their child’s own artwork!

Enter to win

Enter below for a chance to win:

  • your own copy of My Beautiful Book of Oops!
  • a titanium keychain created from your child’s artwork

Giveaway is open to U.S. addresses only. Prizes and samples provided by Workman Publishing.
