Kids don’t wear exercise clothes, do they? Running. Climbing. Walking. Skipping. Biking. A pair of shorts, a T-shirt and sneakers is all a kid really needs to get exercise. Pretty much whatever they are wearing will do. No need for fancy workout gear for little ones.
With adults it is different. Sure, you could wear a tailored suit to the gym, but wouldn’t you be uncomfortable? Of course you would. As much as I’d like to drive to the gym and start exercising in whatever I am wearing at the time, I am much more comfortable in exercise clothes.
But my exercise clothes run the gamut from old tees and sweatpants to old tees and shorts. Not much variety in my exercise wardrobe is there?
I feel good after I work up a good sweat but before long, I begin to hate the feel of my sweaty workout clothes. By the time I leave the gym, I often feel clammy and gross. Really, unless you are running around Philadelphia in a sweat-soaked sweatshirt a la Rocky, sweats and tees are not the best sports wear.
Girl4Sport has a line of workout clothing for women from swim wear to active wear. The garments use performance fabrics that are suited for exercise. Not only that, but the Girl4Sport garments are created in women-only designs.
The design of the clothing is made for the female body on the move, both in and out of the water. Girl4Sport tops, bottoms, and swimsuits are perfect for all manner of sports – from dry land sports of beach volleyball to the water sports of kayaking, kite surfing, and swimming.
I must share with you that the last time I wore something other than sweats and tees to exercise was in the 1980s! So when I was asked to review a top from the Girl4Sport line, I was skeptical. Would I like workout garments? Would I find the fit too tight? Would I find a garment in my size? Eventually I had to stop asking questions and click on over to Girl4Sport.net.
After a bit of clicking around I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of garments. I found tops in short sleeves, tank tops, long sleeves, and even a zippered top. The fabrics were solid colors, floral, or eye-catching designs. You can mix and match a top with a bottom to create a swim suit or an exercise outfit.
I worry about sunburn so I frequently wear a long-sleeved rashguard shirt in hot weather so I chose a Long Sleeve Full Zip Top. I found it to be more stylish than other rashguards and I wore it as I walked from one activity to the next, both inside and out. The top was perhaps a little more figure hugging than my usual clothing but I was comfortable. As I exercised, the top breathed with me which I liked and I didn’t feel overly sweaty.

A key selling point for the Girl4Sport gear is sun protection. All garments are professionally tested following the AATCC Test Method 183-200. Tested fabrics receive a UPF UV Protection Factor rating. Garments are also given an equivalent SPF Sun Protection Factor rating. To simulate use and wear in real life, all fabrics are tested wet and stretched.
