5 Minutes for Books –
Princess and Pirate Potty

If you happen to be the caregiver of a child who will soon be making that gigantic leap for toddlerhood, also known as potty training, listen up. Scholastic has published two new whimsical and fun-filled books to accompany your child’s experience. Written by Samantha Berger and illustrated by Amy Cartwright, Pirate Potty and Princess Potty will make your children laugh and get them excited to plop their bottoms down on the potty!

The publisher’s description says it best:

Both books provide a helpful, step-by-step story that introduces girls & boys to the concept of toilet training. Pirate Potty is a pirate-themed, toilet-training book that is fit for the little swashbuckler in your life! Includes a pirate’s hat and reward stickers! Princess Potty follows the same theme…a toilet-training book that is fit for the Royal Highness in your life! This book includes tiara and reward stickers!

I’m a big fan of these cute books! The illustrations are adorable, and the humor level is just perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. I found myself chuckling a bit, especially on this page from the pirate version. Oh, that X made me giggle!

I happen to have a three and a half year old princess and a two year old pirate in my care, and I’m happy to say that the princess has been using her royal potty for over a year now, but that pirate is still donning his jolly roger themed diapers. When the time comes (and man, I hope that time comes soon!), I can’t wait to pop out the pirate hat in this book and reward his beginning attempts on the potty with the gold doubloon stickers.

Now, if you think your own little pirate or princess would enjoy Pirate or Princess Potty, then you’ve come to the right place!

Jr. isn’t potty training yet, but will be soon. I’d love to have the pirate book since he’s already into eye patches and yelling AAAAAARGH at the top of his little lungs all the time :)

I would love to win these books. My niece is starting with her oldest daughter and the youngest is almost ready. When she gets done it will be my grandson’s turn and the book will be past to him. Then it will be time for my niece’s twins and they will get the book. We share just about everything so we can cut down on the cost of things.
