Instructions
Make Cupcakes
Bake cupcakes according to cake mix directions or vanilla cupcake recipe.
Cool cupcakes completely.
Make Buttercream
Use an electric mixer to beat butter, confectioners’ sugar and milk on slow speed. Gradually increase the speed to high.
Once the buttercream starts to take form, add red gel food coloring until you achieve a shade of pink that you like.
Continue beating on high. Once the ingredients are smooth, well-tinted, and form semi-stiff peaks, the buttercream is ready.
Frost and Decorate Cupcakes
Attach Wilton tip #233 to a frosting bag and scoop buttercream inside.
Frost each cupcake and give your cupcake monsters some long, disheveled buttercream fur.
Give each of your monsters either 1, 2, or 3 eyes with your candy googly eyes.
Create Horns For Your Cupcake Monsters
Roll 24 spheres out of your red fondant, about 1/3 of an inch in size.
Snap each pretzel stick in half.
Place one fondant sphere on each of your pretzel sticks.
Insert 2 pretzel sticks into each one of your furry cupcakes.
Make Fondant Hearts
Roll two fondant spheres (about ¼ of an inch in diameter each).
Then, give them a more oval shape and squeeze them together, leaving a space at the top.
Pinch the bottom and flatten the heart out slightly, smoothing it as you go.
Make about 24-30 of these and place randomly on each monster.
