I want to get my home ready for fall with minimal effort. I am not much of a “crafty” person, so any changes have to be easy to implement. What suggestions do you have of things I can do to amp up the fall flair in my home?
~Linda, Nebraska
Like most people, I imagine a great amount of your time is spent at home. If you happen to be a stay at home or work from home mom, the time that you spend at home is more magnified than that of the general population. So take some time to make it a haven. Your home should not only be a place that you enjoy being but, one that you can’t wait to retreat to everyday. Here are some quick and easy things that you can do to get your home decor “up to speed” for fall.
Hang a Wreath
There are lots of great looking options for fall wreaths available. You can buy one from any home supply store or make one all your own. A search on Pinterest will give you lots of ideas of where to start. Anna, made this burlap fall wreath using just a few supplies and it is super easy to make.
Add Some Fragrance
Adding fragrance to your home is one of the quickest and most simple things that you can do to let the fall in. Candles, potpourri, scented oils and air re-fresheners now come in a glorious assortment of scents and varieties these days. During this time of year, deeper scents like cashmere, pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon are particularly nice. So find something you like, and let the fragrance in.
Texture and Fabrics
Introducing texture and fabrics is not only easy, it’s a whole lot of fun. Burlap is a great way to add texture and depth to home decor. Use it at place settings, in window coverings/curtains and even in picture frames for a rustic and earthy feel. Soft plush fabrics can easily be used in drapery, toss pillows, area rugs and throws. This is also a great way to easily add warm colors like oranges, deep reds and plums to your home.
Using just one of these tips will get you started on a path to embracing fall in your home. But if you truly want to amp things up, use these tips together to usher in fall with true finesse and style.
