The weather is cooling down and I am ready for fall. What are some of your favorite fall recipes?
~Marsha, Nebraska
Fall is a marvelous time of year to experiment with new ingredients and new recipes. As a matter of fact, knowing what foods are in season, can give you a head start on what to prepare this time of year. Here are some recipe ideas to get things moving in the right direction.
Soups
I just love soups. You can pretty much put any vegetables, meats and liquid you want into a pot and you are already half way there. Sarah shared perfect fall soup recipes in a previous post and they are sure to warm you up.
You may also enjoy this slow cooker kale, lentil and sausage soup. It’s healthy but filling and tasty too!
Apples
Apples are in season now so comfort dishes like pork and apples and even slow cooker apple sauce are great.
In terms of desserts, these cinnamon baked apples are sure to please. It only takes 10 minutes to make and they are so delish.
Sweet Potatoes/Pumpkins/Squashes
Sweet potatoes, pumpkins and squashes are the “star” vegetables in the fall and winter months.
Take advantage of their splendor with recipes like butternut squash bisque, pumpkin spice cookies and orange rosemary sweet potatoes.
Add these recipes to your meal rotation and tell me what you think.
