The Easter season is upon us, and this is a great opportunity to tackle the truth behind this special holiday with our children. They will observe attractive chocolate bunnies and eggs in stores everywhere. Hot cross buns will be offered at dinner time, and baskets of candy will be given laden full of sweets. However, it is important to sit down with our children while their hearts are so impressionable, and guide them truthfully to the authentic message behind Easter.
How to Tackle the Truth Behind Easter
The Nitty Gritty
Talk with your children through the beautiful message of salvation performed by the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus lived to die a sacrificial death for our sins. This is the event that we commemorate on Good Friday. On Easter we recall His supernatural Resurrection, granting life to all who follow Him. Since these historical happenings appear in the Bible, they should be approached as true events.
Perhaps the most important point to drive home to your children is that they understand the importance of the Savior. Making the Biblical truth of salvation relevant to your children’s lives will be a priceless gift that they will walk in every day of the year, and not just on Easter Sunday.
