Operation Christmas Child

What a perfect way to get in the spirit of the Christmas season – Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse.

If you haven’t heard of this wonderful project, make sure you check out their website. Through a gift filled shoe box, you and your family can affect the life of a child somewhere in the world while sharing a wonderful experience of giving with your own family. National Collection week is November 13-18, so you still have time to grab a shoe box and go shopping!

Here is our box, ready and waiting.

Tackle It Tuesday

And here it is (almost) ready to go. Jackson was quite concerned with my arrangement for the photo and kept worrying that it wasn’t all going to fit in the box. I assured him that this was just for show and that I would be able to fit it in properly when I finished taking a picture.

We just did this! And this year we got a great idea from Mary Haven at Homesteeped Hope and we bought PLASTIC shoe boxes. We added Christmas sticker decorations to the boxes and now they’ll have a lasting place to keep all of their stuff!

Thanks so much for posting this idea. I’ve been looking for something to do with the kids this year to show them the true meaning of Christmas.

Thanks to you, I think I’ve found what I’ve been looking for!

It’s an awesome project that we too do every year! Great learning experience for everyone – this year Aubrey asked to do her own – so she’s using her allowence to pay for the items going into her box (that was VERY important to her) – I gotta them them all finished and ready to mail when she returns home tomorrow! GREAT TACKLE!!!

We do this every year with our kids…we always pick a girl, of course, since they can more identify with picking out girly gifts.
Ours is about ready to go to Awana tomorrow! 🙂

A great tackle. I love the shoe boxes from Samaritan’s Purse. :0) It’s one of my favourite relief organizations. We haven’t done shoe boxes for a little while but will either do one in the near future or next year. We’ll let our girls do one up for another girl their age. How fun!!!

This is a great program. Our church does it everyyear. Dont forget to wrap the box and the lid seperately, because they need to check the contents. We are working on ours as well.

This is a wonderful teaching opportunity for the children. They learn so much about giving and how even a small thing is big to another! Great tackle this week!

Ah, such a good idea, but I ‘ve never heard of it over here. Either it doesn’t exist over here or they are very lousy on advertising….

It’s a good tackle – that even others get the good from 🙂

That’s almost like a tackle in reverse! How refreshing to see one box where it’s completely okay to put so many things into it! 😀
