What Would You Ask Amy Roloff or Jon Gosselin?

We are huge TLC fans.

Jackson and I love to curl up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watch episodes of Jon and Kate Plus 8 and Little People, Big World.

Amy Roloff
So when I was asked to interview not only Amy Roloff, but also Jon Gosselin, I couldn’t say no! I knew Jackson would be impressed. And hey – why turn down a chance for my kid to think his mom is cool!

And I would love a chance to chat with two fantastic parents whom I admire. Personally, if I had a TV camera following me as I parent, I am SURE I would not come out looking too great. I admire these couples for allowing us to see their lives, raw and real.

Their shows are great teaching tools that I use with my son. They bring out great conversation starters for Jackson to see how life is in other families and to broaden his worldview.
jon gosselin
I will interview Amy on Monday and Jon on Thursday, recording the conversations for podcasts. If all goes well and I don’t mess up the recording – it will be my first time recording for a podcast – we will get the interviews posted as soon as possible.

BUT – I thought you all might want to jump in and leave some question ideas in the comments. I already have Jackson working on what he would like to ask them, and I would love to have input from you as well.

So, what would you ask Amy Roloff or Jon Gosselin?

I would like to ask Jon if there is any truth to the rumor that he will soon have his own show….entitled “Jon Minus Nine”…:)

I would like to ask them when they plan on stopping this show. How can they think that filming the kids on the potties or taking baths is beneficial? Seems like exploitation to me.

    For Amy,

I am a big fan of your tv show. You seem like a wonderful Mum and I think a great lady. Even though you have a disability, it does not stop you from leading a productive life. I hope your show continues for a long time to come.

    Susan

    For Jon,
I am a fan of Jon & Kate plus 8. Your wedding in Hawaii was beautiful. All of your children are so precious. My son is grown, and as yet I do not have any grandchildren. When I watch your show I feel I would like to be a volunteer grandma to children like them. I hope your show continues for a long time, as I would like to watch children grow up. All the best to all of you. Susan

I love these shows!!! I watch them faithfully every Monday.

I would like to ask Jon, how they decided on the names and how long it took them to come up with them.

I would be curious to know if they think there will be a time where they won’t want their children’s lives on TV like this or if they think there are any drawbacks to being on the show.

I would love to ask Jon if he is surprised at the success of their show. I watch it and I don’t even have kids (mine are adults) but I do have 7 grandchildren. I like a lot of the everyday stuff they do for the kids.

I also love the way they show each of their children how special they are individually and that raising these children does put them under stress sometimes. Kate and Jon seem to be a perfect balance for each other and I am glad they are willing to share a glimpse of their life with us.

I love both shows. Best reality tv with positive role models for parents and children. Shows very entertaining, warm, informative and heartfelt. I am a short person 4’9, I may not be a “little person” like Amy, but I admire her strength and courage in everyday living. My question is a personal one for Amy. I love a pair of her earrings she wears on the show now and then and cannot find them anywhere. I believe the are american indian round silver shields with 3 or 4 feather dangles ..hard to describe..shield or circle plain silver with dangles..I would like to purchase a pair..I am in massachusetts, so I hope I can buy them on line. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ! thank you .

Wow. I watch these shows religiously. I am glad that you get a chance to interview them.

    Here are my questions:

    For Amy:
Do you find it hard to discipline your children? Do they try to take advantage of you when you put your foot down because they are so much taller then you?

    For Jon,
What has been your favorite part of parenting eight children?

Thank you for the chance to have your readers participate in this.

    Take care!

I would ask an important question that I know many people that admired the Roloffs would like Amy to address because there is some disappointment.

As Amy is probably aware, there is some attention to the fact that Jeremy and some of his closest friends have used words that are very offensive and hurtful towards other minority groups. I know a lot of people that were very surprised and disappointed to see Jeremy use those terms because of the message of tolerance and diversity the Roloffs teach.

I think the show has been effective of educating people to respect people with dwarfism and that the M word is hurtful and derogatory. Jeremy and his friends all appear to be very respectful towards other little people at the conferences and such. My question, is how has Amy attempted to teach Jeremy to have that same respect and sensitivity towards people who are different from him and his family and friends? After you discovered that Jeremy uses those kinds of hurtful words, what steps did you take to ensure he understands why it’s not acceptable?

I’d like to know what Jon and Kate think of Santa Claus. I saw one of their Christmas shows, but he wasn’t mentioned and it didn’t seem like he left any presents. Do they “believe” in him? If so, what part does he play in their Christmas celebration? If not, why not and what do they do instead?

    Enjoy your interviews!

It has to be overwhelming to have people looking in our their lives with cameras all the time. Don’t you just want to shout at them sometimes to go away!

I absolutely LOVE Jon & Kate plus 8!!!

I would like to tell Jon that watching their show, my husband has learned that couples who bicker still love each other deeply & it doesn’t mean you are headed for the dreaded “D” word. He now knows that life & wild kids sometimes just gets the better of you & you snap a little bit, but at the end of the day, it’s the love that counts, not the bickering.

I would also like to ask why Kate became an RN if she cannot stand the site of bodily fluids or needles? LOL Just seems odd to me. How did she ever make it through Nursing school with all these “quirks”?

I’d like to hear Jon’s response to the internet rumors that they have nannies and housekeepers there when the cameras aren’t around, but on show days, they pretend to do it all themselves. (I’m assuming that’s just a false rumor!)

Ask Amy how she has the patience to put up with Matt’s crazy ideas.

I know I love them, but sometimes, you can just see that look in her face, like, “What now?”

And ask Matt, Where do your ideas come from? Most people are not that creative.

We watch both shows with our children. It’s nice to have “family friendly” viewing during the week! I would ask either one, “is it hard being in the public eye and getting recognized everywhere you go”.

How fun! We used to live in the same Oregon city where the Roloffs live – they were definitely local “celebrities,” but always super nice when you saw them in public. Now I love to watch the show just so I can see glimpses of “home.” 🙂 I don’t have any profound questions to suggest, but I do wish you lots of luck. Have a great time!!
