Part 2 – The NEW 5 Minutes for Mom Resident Tackler
Whenever we put out a call to fill a position on our team, we receive so many emails that choosing the new team member becomes a huge tackle!
Not only is it time consuming to go through the applications and visit all the wonderful sites, but it is so emotionally difficult to have to choose one woman from such a fantastic group.
But I finally completed the daunting tackle of looking for a new Tackle it Tuesday editor to manage Tackle it Tuesday.
PLEASE REMEMBER that we want Tackle It Tuesday to be all about community and supporting one another. So while Lisa will be posting her personal tackles here some weeks, she will also be rotating with guest tacklers whom she will coordinate.
If you would like to be a Featured Tackler here at 5 Minutes for Mom please email us at…
Now, our new resident tackler is…
Lisa from Confessions of an Apron Queen
Lisa is known in the blogosphere as The Apron Queen. She is a work at home Mom to three children and wife to her “Paratrooper Man”. She enjoys writing about her family, mixing in stories about life in Texas and other adventures along the way. She also dabbles in photography and shares lots of fun photos, including easy step-by-step recipes. Oh yea, and did I mention she is obsessed with all things vintage?
I asked Lisa a few questions to help us all get familiar with our new Tackle It Tuesday leader.
Janice: Lisa, your great photography and well laid out instructional cooking posts completely won me over. I absolutely LOVE the photos (and the cupcakes of course!) in your latest TT post. Which came first – your interest in photography or your blog?
Lisa: The photography and blogging fed off each other. The more pictures I took, the more stories I told. The more stories I told, the more I took pictures of those stories.
We are a military family and live far away from our own families. For many years, as a way to keep in touch, I kept a photo journal throughout the year full of family photos and stories. Then I would make a yearly scrapbook, have multiple copies made and mail scrapbooks to family and friends.
Somewhere along the way, I started my blog to promote my apron store. And before I knew it, the blog has turned into what it it today. A complete hodge podge of my family life, my kitchen and my love of aprons.
Janice: You are a work at home mom as well, aka The Apron Queen, running your fabulous mom-owned store, Rick Rack Attack.
Can you tell us a bit about your experience as a WAHM? How do you manage to get so much accomplished in a day?
Lisa: I am very easily distracted. I absolutely HAVE to keep multiple lists and calendars and schedules to keep myself on track. I try to plan as much ahead as possible. I try to make the most of my time. Notice, I use the word try a lot!
Janice: I just have to ask – do you always tackle in an apron?
Lisa: Is there any other way?! Of course!
Janice: I also LOVED your enthusiasm for this Tackle It Tuesday editor position. But it is even more work to add into your already packed schedule!
So can you tell us, ‘Why do you want to be the resident tackler at 5 Minutes for Mom?’
Lisa: Many years ago, right after our middle child was born, I made a little extra money by taking on a newspaper route. The route had to be made on foot. My job FORCED me to exercise every day whether I wanted to or not. I lost all my baby weight in no time flat. I l looked great and I was in great shape.
I’m hoping that being the Tackle It Tuesday editor will work the same way. I am desperate need of being FORCED to tackle my housework. Hopefully, my house will look great and be in great shape by tackling on Tuesdays!
THANKS so much for joining our team Lisa. We are thrilled to have you and look forward to you starting next week!
Part 3 – My Tackle This Week
(This is still Janice writing, by the way. Lisa will start next week.)
Sunday was Olivia’s first birthday. On Friday, I decided I wanted to make a slide show of her first year of life – as well as finally get started on a photo book for her.
So, I tackled my hard drive of photos for over 20 hours this week! It was a marathon.
I didn’t quite get all of my favorite photos of her edited, (I shoot in RAW the majority of the time and I am also obsessed with tweaking my photos,) but I got through most of them.
I made a collection of my favorites of her first year in Photoshop Elements and so now I will be able to quickly upload them to get started on some photo books next.
Here is what i did finish – a slideshow of Olivia’s first year.
(And don’t forget to email us to sign up for the CLR theme tackle.)
If you tackled a project this week, just add a comment and add your link below.
Happy Tackling ladies…
