Hi Tacklers!
This is Janice here.
As you faithful TT tacklers know, our resident tackler Carolyn, who took over hosting TT for me here at 5 Minutes for Mom, has been struggling lately with depression.
For the past several weeks, Carolyn has bravely shared her pain as she tries to fight through her depression, while holding down the toughest job on earth – being a mom. Despite her battle, she has even kept “tackling” with us each week.
But, tonight Carolyn wrote and asked us if we would post for her… and pray.
Those of us who have experienced depression know the agony Carolyn is in right now. Susan and I have been so proud of Carolyn for openly writing about her depression, so that all of us can be encouraged and inspired by her experience.
I know Carolyn doesn’t want to disappoint you loyal tacklers. So the Mr. Linky is here for you to link up and spread your tackling inspiration.
And if you want to help Carolyn continue to tackle her depression, please leave a comment with your words of support. I know she appreciates your encouragement and friendship so very much.
What are you tackling? Link up and let us know!

We’re making housework blog-able!
Each week on Tuesday, we are posting before and after pictures of a project or trouble area that we tackled this week.
Find out more about Tackle It Tuesday here.
The project can be little or big – whatever you want. Basically, Tackle It Tuesday is about giving ourselves incentive, deadlines and satisfaction in getting our household tasks done. (It doesn’t even have to be housework… just whatever is on your To Do list.)
If you tackled a project this week, just add a comment and add your link below.
Let’s do this!

I am praying for you, Carolyn. I am a faithful 5 Minutes for Mom reader even though I don’t always participate in Tackle it Tuesday. I too suffer from depression and anxiety and need to be reminded often that God is with me even when I might not feel like it. (((HUGS)))
Trish says
{{{HUGS}}} to you Carolyn. As someone who still deals with ups and downs several years after being diagnosed with depression, I know how hard it is to see a light at the end of the tunnel sometimes. No matter how bad things get, that doesn’t mean it will always be that way – there is hope and you are on the right track by seeking help. Blessings to you.
Tara says
So sorry Carolyn! I hope you’re feeling better soon. No tackle for me this week; I’ve been away. I’m hoping to get caught up in time for next week.
Kelli (Writing the Waves of Motherhood) says

Carolyn,
My prayers are with you. I can only imagine the battle that you are going through right now. Please know that we are thinking of you here.
Rick Bucich says
Like Susan said about blog commenting, a community is formed by those who participate in the blog, whether it be readers or writers. Carolyn, you have more support here than you’re probably aware; readers here are like extended family. It takes courage to share your depression, that strength will help carry you through.
Sandra says
Carolyn,
I dealt with depression for about 30 years. I went to a doctor that uses natural products to deal with depression. They have helped me tremendously. I take 5HTP (300 mg per day/ at night), SAMe (400 mg in the morning), and 2 tablespoons of flax oil a day. My doctor’s website has a great deal of info. It is treatingandbeating.com I felt better within a week of starting these supplements. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions – I have researched depression for years and could recommend reading material and diet suggestions. I am praying that you will have complete victory over your depression! My email is [email protected]. If it doesn’t go thru then use [email protected] May God richly bless you!
Amy says
Carolyn-
You are in my prayers.
Sarah says
Carolyn,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time. There is a light at the end of this tunnel – this I promise you.
Be well. Take care. Know you are wonderful.

Nikki says
I have dealt with depression on and off since I was 17. I didn’t understand what it was then and thought that I was the only one who had ever went through it. But as I’ve done research over the years and found out I’m not alone, it’s gotten easier to deal with. The number one thing that has helped me is prayer. Regardless of how you feel right now, just know that God does care and he loves you.
And you’ve already done the best thing a person can do who is dealing with depression, you’ve reached out to those who care about you. I know how difficult that can be. I am lifting you up in my prayers today, Carolyn.
xoxo

My heart goes out to your Carolyn – to have to battle something like depression is hard enough, but to have the courage to share your story with all of us, is a brave, wonderful thing to do. Take care of yourself, tackling one day at a time.
Happy Tackle it Tuesday to everyone.

Carolyn- I just completed my first Tackle It Tuesday project thanks to you! I know what you are going through because I have been there before. Seems like most moms have but we still feel very much alone in the struggle. Take care of yourself and stay well. You will have many thoughts and prayers on your behalf.

Carolyn,
I know how hard depression can be. Sometimes it is a struggle to even get out of bed. Keep on pushing through. Life is wonderful! Always remember that God knows you, and loves you, and is aware of your struggles. He is the one that can help you through this. You are in my prayers.
jenn3 says
Hope you feel better soon. I don’t think I’ve ever suffered from depression, but I’ve gone through some things that made me not care about anything and not even want to get out of bed. I’m sure this has to be very difficult.
Michele says
Carolyn,
We thank you for your openness about your depression. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
donetta says
Hay Girl, I know it is hard…I know you understand this. The stress runs out the Adrenalin and norepinephrine. When they and the serotonin run low extra high quality protein helps as does B12 under the tongue. I think I will go take some too. You may need to get on an antidepressant to help your body recover. A broken leg still needs a cast…:) “Aint no shame” 🙂
I am sorry this is hitting you so hard. Remember that the gain through this is glorifying God. You will be better able to practice the compassion that is needed for another down the road. That is how I understand your journey been there done that and got the t shirt. I know it is hard. Hope, trust and be good to your self. Get help. It is good to get good help.
Kelly says
Depression is something I have suffered from in the past and so I will be sure to send up many, many prayers for Carolyn. While it may seem like it, you are not alone and many people know what you are feeling.
Sending hugs your way.

Carolyn,
I have suffered with PPD and other forms of depression also. Focus on TODAY only and one day at a time. Can God give you the grace to get through TODAY? When we start thinking about all that we have to do in the future, life gets too overwhelming. Praying also for you.

I want to give my words of encouragement. Everyday is a new day and I know that you can get through this. Be proud of yourself. Through your pain you have been committed to your responsibilities and family. Even though it is a tough situation I think that it is best that you take a break–for yourself. Find the little things that make you happy and keep surrounding yourself with loving friends and family.

Carolyn, thank you for sharing your journey with us. Those of us who also must tackle depression again and again gain strength whenever we see someone else tackling it with courage. You’re not alone! I’ll be lifting you up in prayer today with faith that the Lord will lift you from your depression soon. Get whatever help you need to tackle it hard. Hugs!
Michelle Pendergrass says
Father God,
Wrap Carolyn in your strong arms of safety, pour your love over her and send your angel down to protect her. Keep the enemy at bay and send your people to her to minister to her hurting soul. You know us inside and out, your hand is on us at all times and you never leave us. Lord, help Carolyn through this time. Give her strength, healing, and comfort. Let her enjoy bubble baths and chocolate. Give her children overflowing hearts of understanding and help them to help her. We know life isn’t always easy and sometimes the hardest thing to do is to praise you in the midst of trials, but Father, give Carolyn the ability to praise you through it all. Help her to be still, help her to feel your compassion spilling down over her thoughts. Fill her with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Have you ladies ever heard of a test called EDS? Chiropratics mostly do this test. It is hard to explain but it is electronic and finds pressure points in your hands & feet. It is really cool. I had mine done yesterday. Even though I don’t suffer from depression I do have hormanal imbalances & bugs in my system. So I am on a special diet to take out the sugars in my body to get rid of them. I am planning on blogging it later when I am done w/some cleaning. But it might be worth for you to look into.
God bless you.

My own battle with depression two years ago still feels fresh. The world seemed small and dark like a black and white TV screen. I remember going days without taking showers or fixing my hair. And then standing in the scalding water, just desperate to feel something. Even pain.
I thought about ending my life. Even knew how I was going to do it. But instead I decided to end the things that were causing me to be depressed. I took medication. I changed careers. I moved on. Life got a lot better. Colors started appearing on the TV screen. Joy eventually returns in all of its sweetness. And you savor it so much more because you know how precious it is.
I’m praying for you to feel joy again soon, Carolyn.
