Last spring, several friends and I headed to New York City and saw Mamma Mia on Broadway. It was the best girls’ night out ever! I don’t think I stopped grinning the whole show (well, okay, there was a part where I teared up). Watching Donna reunite with her old girl-band, complete with singing into hair dryers and curling irons, was hysterical.
After seeing the movie preview I’ve been smiling all over again. I’m going to have to choose my movie-watching partners very carefully, in case I relapse into the behavior that afflicted me after seeing the Broadway show. I sang karaoke-style all the way home.
In honor of the Summer 2008 release of Mamma Mia: the Movie, Pond’s Clean Sweep towelettes is sponsoring a contest trying to find the three women over 40 who best embody the sassiness, sexiness, and confidence of Donna and the Dynamos. You can download the music and lyrics of either “Mamma Mia” or “Dancing Queen” (I dare you not to hop up and sing when you listen to that one). Then gather two of your best gal pals and make and submit a video of you singing it by April 30. You can also sign up for a live audition in New York City on April 28th (limited time slots available).
On May 23, the finalists will be posted on the Pond’s site, and all of America will be invited to vote on the winner.
You can find all the details on Pond’s site, right HERE.
