Janice and I want to send out a huge apology for the incredibly long wait for sites to be added to our blog, site and store directories.
We have been having massive back-end problems with the directory growing so large. WordPress is causing us huge performance issues because it cannot seem to handle the thousands of pages in our directories.
WordPress handles thousands of ‘posts’ without a problem, but we use the ‘pages’ functionality for our directories and that’s where WordPress is choking.
We’ve been working on our upgrading our submission scripts for the last few months, but now we have hit a wall with this performance problem. So it looks like we have to attack the issue from a different angle.
It’s such a hassle… it feels like a kick in the gutt.
I’ve been so stressed as the pile of submission emails grows and grows and I keep thinking we’re almost there… we’re almost ready to start adding sites again. But last night it became clear that the recent ‘bug’ we’ve been experiencing is due to the performance problems of the huge volume of ‘pages’ in our WordPress blog.
We think we may have an idea of how to solve it… but it means more programming and moving pages etc. So the bottom line is it’s more waiting for everyone who wants to be added to the directories.
Sigh.
Technology. It brings us forward so far, but when it lets us down, it’s so very frustrating. The WordPress ‘pages’ technology just doesn’t seem to be where we need it yet.
But, we’ll work around it and get our directories back into full swing soon. Promoting moms is the crux of our site and our directories are critical for that task. So… where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Thank you for your patience!!!

Hi. I am not a technie but would the plug-in WP cache help at all? or K-2? Just as a suggestion to all the moms out there if your site seems slow and you don’t know why. Try firebug (a free site for firefox) and open it the same time your site is on. You will be amazed to see what is making your site slow. Always learning the hard way…anna http://www.green-talk.com
