If you are – or you want to be – than Skye Hoppus has written a book for you! And we are thrilled that www.5MinutesForMom.com was mentioned in Skye’s book, Rock Star Momma.
Skye is the wife of Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 and founder and owner of Childish Clothing. She’s hip and gorgeous and is an expert in helping other hip mamas not lose their look during their nine months of baby bump.
Her book provides tons of Hollywood insider tips on maintaining your fashion sense while pregnant.
As I browsed through the chapters, I began to wonder how many of you are fashionistas who take shopping and dressing ultra seriously.
To be honest, lately I can barely summon the energy to apply makeup! And I tend to spend more of my money shopping for Julia than shopping for myself.
But what about you? Do you love to shop for clothes? Do you love to watch and imitate how the stars are dressing?
Lisa C says
I really enjoy shopping. One of the things I notice when I shop for myself is how often I don’t. Most of my shopping is for my children, and with having five to shop for it can be very expensive.
I will check out the book. Sounds like I can pick up some great tips from this lady, thanks!

Hey, ladies congrats on getting into the book! I wish I were a fashionista! You should check out my latest post, actually. Will give you a peak into my non-stylish self 😉 http://casualfridayeveryday.com/you-look-like-a-mom-today/

I’m a total wannabe! I love reading about what’s hot in fashion and I LOVE seeing what the celebs are wearing, but at the end of the day, the funds just aren’t there to support my habit! 🙁
I’ve picked up the book a couple of times at the book store and thumbed through it. I cannot wait to steal away some time and actually READ it!

I would not say I was totally a fashionista, but I do like Glamour magazine and seeing what the celebrities are wearing. But, seriously, I am just as comfortable spending the day in workout clothes.

Explaining what to wear and why, which is basically the entire topic of my blog, has become such an obsession with me that I have to be careful not to become scruffy myself.
Step away from the computer …
lol. I’ll have to check out the book.

Uh yeah! Even if I have to go shopping in my own closet to put together something new, I am all about fashion! Next I plan to start knitting some cute things for myself this fall!

I believe that there is a big difference between aiming for that “hip” look and being well put together. I don’t pay much attention to trends. When I became a mom, I made a pact with myself that I would not use it as an excuse to not care about how I look. I dress casually and don’t shop at trendy boutiques, but I do make an effort to look nice. It makes me feel good and I know that my husband appreciates it!

I am definitely NOT. I don’t usually know what’s hip or hot and I don’t always care. That said, I do like it when I feel a little hip, but I don’t really have the time or money (or anyplace to go) for it to be top priority.

I didn’t follow fashion when I had the body for it – I didn’t have any money, I could barely afford beans.
Now that we have money for luxuries like new clothes instead of thrift store ones, I don’t have the figure to show off.

With homeschool and owning our own business, I’m lucky if I have had a shower by noon. Honestly, it’s just not the most important thing to me right now…but I always wish it was when I actually get to leave my home and see all those “hip” moms out.

I admit it…I buy “In Touch” almost every week to see who is doing and wearing what and seeing whom. I know it’s a waste of money, but it is my little fantasy world although I would never want to trade what I have to go through everything they go through. I also really enjoy reading “In Style” to see what is supposedly coming in and going out. Since I have been losing weight it has been really fun clothes shopping because I can wear some trends although there is a lot I would NEVER wear even if I was a 0!
