Too much to tackle…
And I can’t even get to it…
Today was one of those days when you never even get to your to do list. New things just sprout up and block your way – like a two year old tantrum by Julia that went on for over an hour because she didn’t want her diaper on and having some random dog at the park pee on my son’s backpack. (Like I have time to add washing a backpack and its contents to my schedule. But when there is dog pee involved – it moves right to the top of the urgent list let me tell you!)
This week on my to do list:
- Pack! – My husband, Jackson and I are leaving for camp on Saturday. (We volunteer up at a teens’ camp for a week every year.) So I have to do laundry and pack! Nothing like packing for a week at camp – it always takes me way too long!
- Appointments – Dentist for Jackson, Prenatal, Ultrasound, Hair Cut
- Write posts – The posting never ends does it?
- Finish the July 4th Giveaway – Draw and Announce winners. (If you haven’t entered all the contests, don’t wait – you only have until 12am (EST) Tuesday night.)
- Load Photoshop on my husband’s laptop so I can post pictures etc. from camp. (I might not be able to get an internet connection – but hopefully I will.)
- Work on site redesign.
- Answer at least some of the hundreds of flagged emails waiting for me…
- And did I mention packing???
Honestly I don’t know how I am going to be ready on time. I never even get all my urgent emails and work done as it is without adding packing and preparing to be away for a week! So it would really help if dogs would refrain from peeing on my son’s belongings…
Oh – and did you notice that there are no household tackles on that list! The weeks are counting down till Susan and my babies arrive and we still haven’t begun to build Jackson’s new room (the baby is going to take his and we need to close in the office to make a room for him,) nor deal with my unfinished tackle in my storage room/basement, nor tackle my outrageously messy garage. OH MY ladies – I am in trouble!
But how on earth do I get to those big tackles when I can’t even get through my regular days? But I guess I don’t have a choice! So when I get back from camp – watch out – I am going to have to start doing some serious house tackles!
I hope your tackling is going better than mine… make sure you link up and show off…

Have a great week at camp!
This was my first tackle!! Thank you for the incentive… unfortunately, my before pictures didn’t turn out so well… i’m going to see if I can fix them in Photoshop and then post them later!
Thank you for the encouragement!! 🙂

Wow. Packing is not very fun. I always forget something I think is crucial. Try to enjoy yourself and remember this is for fun!

Your list looks like mine. Too much to do and not enough time to do it. Good to see some of the helpful hints in the comments though. I think I’ll get started on my list now.

Jen! I can so relate to your list!! Running a business and a home creates endless ToDo Lists and projects!
With that many big projects, Marcia is right on. Make a master project list AND prioritize the list. Index cards are great to help you prioritize. For each project, write your next detailed action that would advance the project (to get it out of your head.)
Then set some target dates or months to tackle each project – one at a time. e.g, perhaps save the garage till October when the weather is cooler?
And don’t forget about delegating! Can you hire someone to help with these projects? Maybe a temporary personal assistant? or an Intern?
For now, get the stuff out of your head, create a master plan and then go on vacation and relax knowing you can come back refreshed and ready to tackle!
Have a GREAT vacation!

Good Luck packing, I need to do that too. We leave on Friday for 9 days! Hopefully I did my 1st Tackle It Tuesday right. I don’t have an after picture but I will add it when I get one tonight.

This is the first time I have been able to do a “tackle” in weeks, and it feels so good!
Wow, Janice, you have a lot on your plate! Just take it in small bits as you can and don’t fret — I discovered with small children that some tackles just had to wait.

Sounds like you have a little bit on your plate! Have a great week and a good time at camp!

Have a wonderful time at camp! Don’t panic over your to-do list. Don’t think in big bunches, just think about the next step. Keep doing one thing at a time and you will have it all done when you need it to be done. And relax a little girl! You are pregnant for heavens sake!

Have a wonderful time at camp. If you need a travel checklist, you can get one at the link.
Janice, just take it one thing at a time. Make a master list (you can get at the same link), write down everything and start working. I find focussed times of 30 mins or an hour work well in a particular area 🙂

You are busy! Good luck with packing, not one of my favorite jobs!
