Tired of Reruns? We’re Giving Away Free Netflix Accounts!

I bet most people would vote ‘Summer’ as the best time of year. I know I would. But, there’s only one problem with summertime — yes, you know it — all the best TV shows go on holiday too, leaving us with rusty old reruns.

Now of course we all should try to limit our TV time… but sometimes once the kids are asleep, it’s pure luxury to break out the popcorn and a nice cool ice tea, put your feet up and flick on the TV.

So, to help you beat your summertime rerun blues, we’ve arranged to give away 5 FREE 6-month subscriptions to Netflix.

Yes, you read that right… we are giving out five six-month free trial codes to the Netflix service. Users of this trial can have three movies checked out at a time and also get to use the video on demand/Internet video service.

If you’re not yet familiar with Netflix, it’s an online movie rental service that lets you rent movies through the mail with free shipping and no late fees.

Since Netflix is a US based movie service, this contest is only open to US residents.

To join our contest just leave a comment and tell us one or two of your favorite movies. Also, we’d love to hear if you’ve ever tried a movie rental service like Netflix before and what your experience was like. And then on your own blog, please link back to this post so that your readers can have a chance to join the contest.

We’ll announce the five lucky winners next week and as usual we’ll draw the names using random.org.

Also, for any of you living in New Orleans, Baltimore or near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, you’ll definitely want to check out the free concert and movie series that Netflix is running.

Now, let’s start hearing some of those favorite movies… let me think… my favorite actress is Natalie Portman so some of my favorite movies are Beautiful Girls, Where the Heart Is and Leon The Professional.

Okay, your turn…

This contest is now closed. The winners are…

  • Kristen from This is the Life
  • Michelle from Life is Just Ducky
  • Great Expectations from Letters to my Daughters
  • Chrissy (not a blogger – comment #54)
  • Zukppr (not a blogger – comment #93)

Free netflix offers are provided easily nowadays via online and get netflix free trial from this website:
. To select a movie to watch use the A button on the

I had Blockbuster on demand for a while, and unfortunately was just too expensive. I would love to get a free Netflix account so I can use it with my Xbox 360 I got for Christmas! As for my favorite movies, Tropic Thunder and Disturbia!

My favorite movie of all time is Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (I can quote it like some guys quote the God Father or Caddy Shack) and my other favorite is Scrooge the Musical (with Albert Finney from 1970) I know it’s crazy but I HAVE to watch it ever year during the Holidays – it always puts me in the Christmas Spirit.
I have never tried a mail movie thingy…I guess I would like to see if it works for us.

One that we watch over and over and quote incessantly is “Intolerable Cruelty” with George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones. Soooooo hilarious. And it gets better and better each time we see it.

I also really like a good spy movie. I loved the Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy and will be one of the first to see The Bourne Ultimatum!

My husband introduced me to Netflix and it’s absolutely great! Since we’ve got one daughter, and TWINS on the way! This will probably be a lifesaver, as we won’t get out much at all in the next oh, 15 years or so. Unfortunately due to our tight budget, we don’t currently have a Netflix account (so a free one would be GREAT!)

Crap, I can only pick two favorites? That’s like saying “You’re my favorite kid!” Well if I have to… my two favorite movies are:
Intermission – I love Irish films, and this one features Cillian Murphy & Kelly MacDonald, not to mention great soundtrack by Damien Rice!

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou – All because of one man: Bill Murray. ‘Nuff Said. Oh and Wes Anderson is a great director.

OK, I LOVE movies, so picking two will be tough.

    1) Facing the Giants – I just love inspirational movies, and this is one of the BEST in my opinion. 🙂 Awesome philosophy to live by.

    2) I have always loved American Graffiti as well. I just love the soundtrack. It’s awesome.

Favorite movies: Sound of Music, Frequency, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, Legally Blonde

Netflix: We’ve done Netflix in the past and LOVED it. The only reason we cancelled our subscription was financial- we were trying to eliminate every monthly payment we possibly could, and sadly, Netflix had to go. It is great, though- so convenient, accurate, and fast!

I love all those corny 80’s movies, but since I have 3 teenagers living in my house most of the movies watched here are star wars type movies. I love 50 first dates and Meet the parents. It may be too late to get in on this but if it isn’t I really need this because I never get to choose the movies because they always go to town to pick them up.(yes we live 15 miles from the nearest movie rental place)

I am so linking to this. I’ve never subscribed to Netflix before, but I think the concept is brilliant. I refuse to let my kids wander into a movie rental store, because of all the images they would be exposed to.

My favorite movies include classics like “Yours, Mine and Ours” (the original), “Gone With The Wind”, and “Sound of Music.” Okay, and you can throw in a little potty humor like “Ace Ventura.”

I tried Netflix when my son was first born and loved the convenience. Later, as life got busier, I found less time to watch and thought the cost was too high if I couldn’t really utilize the service the way I wanted to. But I enjoyed it while it lasted, especially viewing old television shows I never saw during their original run (like “What about Raymond?”)

I am a movie fanatic but being a single mother with disabilities and having two young children the budget just doesn’t allow for splurges like movies very often.

    Wonderful!

My all-time favorite movie is The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. Second choice would be The Color Purple.

I was a member of Family Pass until it closed. We loved it and used it for educational movies for my son. We’d still be members, but they are no longer there.

I have considered Netflix but just hadn’t signed up yet…would love to try it out.

I have never used Netflix before but have really wanted to and over the summer would be perfect with all my boyz! Especially if it rains – eek!

I have never used Netflix but we started using redbox (www.redbox.com) which in our area has little “units” located outside McDonalds, or in grocery stores. The rentals are only $1 per night, AND you can drop them off at ANY other redbox location. So we like to pick one up here, Little King and I watch it on the way to visit my parents (4 hour drive) then we drop it off at the Redbox location nearest to them the next day! I love it.

Favorite movies? Yikes, I’m sure these won’t be my all time favorite. There is an older movie I really like, and don’t know why, called “The Mighty”. It is good. I also love “You’ve Got Mail”, it’s such a classic. And for a funny, stupid, but I love it Christmas it’s gotta be “Elf”.

We love getting Netflix, and I just found out that with a subscription you can watch a movie ANY TIME ON YOUR COMPUTER as many times/movies as you care to be staring at your screen. Unfortunatly this doesn’t work for out of the USA people like me *boo hoo* But Netflix is how I catch up on all the shows like House MD, CSI and such. It suites us because we are a family that doesn’t watch the same thing over and over – so it’s no surprise that I don’t have a “favorit” movie . . – and this saves us so much because we don’t feel like we need to buy the film . . .it’s always avalible at Netflix.

Great contest! My favorite movie is “Princess Bride.” I could watch it over and over again. I have never tried any movie rental programs, but they all sound like great programs!

We’re thinking about getting a Netflix account. My all-time favorites – My Big Fat Greek Wedding, You’ve Got Mail, and Princess Bride.

Favorite movies – Love Comes Softly and Gone with the Wind. We did Blockbuster once but it was kind of expensive so we dropped it.

I’ve tried the Blockbuster service (last summer) but it was slow. Now that you can take them back to the store and exchange them, it seems more user friendly. I’ve heard that Netflix is much speedier than Blockbuster, so I’d love to try it!

My favorite movies are “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Steel Magnolias”. 🙂

And Star Wars? Padme Amidala? Netflix is a great service

I’d love a free Netflix subscription! We don’t watch movies very often anymore, just a lot going on with 3 kids, but it would be fun to have an excuse to make time to do it! I love chick flicks–especially Serendipity and My Best Friend’s Wedding! I also like a good comedy!

My two favorite movies – Field of Dreams and Field of Dreams… Ha ha. Should I recite the dialog for you???

I have just gotten a very basic Netflix account – 2 per month. And I love it. Would love to be able to have more than one at a time. Haven’t watched movies for a few years, and there’s a lot to catch up on!

Ooo, I love this giveaway! I *have* tried Netflix before, but it’s been several years and I had to give it up — better use of money elsewhere, unfortunately. 😉 But it was a great service and I loved it while I had it.

Let’s see, a couple of my favorite movies…. “The Shawshank Redemption” would have be my number one favorite, with “The Hiding Place,” based on the book of the same name by Corrie Ten Boom, being a close second. 🙂

Wow! What a great give-away! I’ve never tried Netflicks but I’ve been meaning to.

So, two of my favorite movies are Sense and Sensibility (I absolutely love Kate Winslet in this movie) and The Importance of Being Earnest (mainly because I have a secret crush on Colin Firth…oops, I guess it’s not much of a secret anymore).
