How to party with us

We want to give a HUGE welcome to all women (and men too) whether or not you have children.

We use the term “Mom” to include everyone who loves children and is interested in the types of things that generally interest moms.

We especially want to include moms-to-be and women struggling to become moms.

So, we want YOU to party with us, whether you’re a mom, grandma, a single gal, dad, blogger or non-blogger. You can all party with us (and be eligible for the prizes) at the Ultimate Blog Party.

BLOGGERS:

  • Invite your friends

    Ultimate Blog Party 2010Put our Invitation Button on your sidebar and write a post inviting all your friends. Click here for the button codes.

  • Host a party at your place

    The Ultimate Blog Party is all about meeting people and getting your blog noticed.

    So have FUN while you showcase your blog and your style. Add pictures, music, video, a slide show, or even a voice post, decorate, include recipes, make your guests laugh — whatever you want. It is your party!

    Just don’t forget to introduce yourself.

    You only need to make ONE party post during the week of April 9-16th. The rest of the week you blog as you normally would. But please link the URL of your party post in the MckLinky so that others can find it – or put it as a sticky at the top of your home page.

    And in your party post, please link back to 5 Minutes for Mom so everyone can find the rest of the parties. Here is the code to include a UBP 10 button in your post.

    (If you want some party ideas, you can visit our first Ultimate Blog Party post, or our Ultimate Blog Party 2008 party post, or Ultimate Blog Party 2009 party post and click through the links of the participating bloggers from those years. You might get some ideas.)

  • Sign the MckLinky here at 5 Minutes for Mom.

    The MckLinky lists will be published in our party post on April 9th at 12:01 AM Eastern.

    When your own party post is published, add the permalink of that party post to one of the MckLinky lists here at 5 Minutes for Mom in our Ultimate Blog Party Post.

    The UBP ’10 will run for one week, from Friday, April 9, 2010 to Friday, April 16, 2010. The prizes winners will be announced by the latest Friday, April 23rd. (We’ll publish the winners as soon as possible, but it takes a long time to assign all those prizes.)

    The MckLinky lists will go live at Friday April 9, 2010, 12:01 am Eastern Time. Participating bloggers can add their link any time during the week of the party. Just remember, PLEASE do not add your link until your party post is up on your blog. And you must use your party post permalink or put your party post as a sticky at the top of your blog for the week so that other partiers can find your post.

    (But please everyone try not to hit the server all in the same second… in previous years the massive traffic has brought down our server. We do have a dedicated server currently hosted with the fabulous LiquidWeb.com and we hope this year it will survive the traffic stampede. But if the site won’t load, please watch for updates on Twitter at #ubp10.)

    Note we will again have MULTIPLE MckLinky lists to help you find each other.

    Find ONE blog category that best suits you and add your party post url.

    You can ALSO add your facebook profile or fan page and your twitter profile to these two linkies.

    To put the URL of your post in the MckLinky, get the permalink for your post (by clicking on permalink or the title of your post) and then copy that URL into the MckLinky.

    The MckLinkies remain permanently in the post. So, no worries, you can keep coming back to the list of party links.

    Please Note: Please use only the central MckLinkies that will be posted here at 5 Minutes for Mom. We want everyone to be able to find each others’ posts. Those MckLinkies will not go live until the party begins on April 9th.

    (By the way, MckLinky is a tool that allows bloggers to leave their name and URL link in a convenient box. Bloggers use them to post their links during carnivals, parties and memes so participants can so other readers can find their posts.

  • Submit a prize (optional)

    If you want to get extra traffic and promotion to your blog or store, you can donate a prize. For details, go here.

    Our Ultimate Blog Party 2010 Prize Page will generate tons traffic and attention. Last year’s Ultimate Blog Party 2009 Prize Page had about 10,000 page views.

    Pamela from Happy Panda will again be collecting and listing prize submissions. Please click over to her site and thank her. (Her baby clothes are sooooo adorable. Definitely shop there for your next baby shower gift.)

    All prizes will be listed on our Ultimate Blog Party 2010 Prize Page.

    Note: These submissions are for prizes that we will list on our Prize Page and that we will randomly award to those who comment on our Party Post.

    You may ALSO choose to offer an independent giveaway on your own blog during the party. Many participants choose to do so. Prizes you offer on your own blog, you award to winners and they are not listed on 5 Minutes for Mom.

    Feel free to participate in either or both ways of offering prizes.

    Only party guests (bloggers who signed the Linky and invited guests via a post and Invitation Button AND non-bloggers who have attended and commented on at least 20 participating party posts) will be eligible to win prizes.

    We will draw the winners from the comments at the main 5 Minutes for Mom UBP ’10 party post. So make sure you leave a comment on the 5 Minutes for Mom UBP ’10 party post. (Our post during the party — not this instruction post!)

    We will award the prizes by a random draw. 5 Minutes for Mom founders (Janice and Susan) and Pamela from Happy Panda, who is the prize coordinator, will NOT be eligible in the draw. All other 5 Minutes for Mom writers will still be eligible.

    Prize hosts will be responsible for sending their prize to their winners. If a prize host wins her own prize, her name will be put back and a new name will be drawn. Please see our site’s Terms and Conditions for our complete list of contest rules and regulations.

  • Get out and PARTY!

    When the party starts on April 9th, browse through the MckLinky lists and look for names you don’t recognize and visit their parties. Don’t forget to introduce yourself with a comment before you move on to the next party!

  • Have an After Party

    A great post party tradition, is to write a post a week or so after the UBP to introduce some of the new bloggers you met. This is a great way to share some linky love with your new friends.

NON-BLOGGERS

The UBP is for non-bloggers too! What would blogs be without readers?!?

So whether you have your own blog, or you only read blogs, you are invited to the party — and you are included in the prize draw!

All you need to do to be eligible for the prizes is comment on our party post and attend some parties.

(Visit and comment on at least 20 blogs participating blogs – simply click on the blogs name on the lists of links called MckLinky to party hop – and you will qualify as a party guest.)

Note: Please be considerate of another and keep your party posts family friendly. We recognize that “family friendly” is a subjective term, so we just ask you to use your best judgment.

Having said that, if a blogger isn’t your style just jump back to the MckLinky and visit someone else.

If, however, you see a post or site that contains nudity or vulgar language or images, please let us know. Offensive blogs will be removed from the MckLinky list at the discretion of the 5 Minutes for Mom team.

  41. I’m going to try to do this for the first time ever. Sounds like a lot of fun but kind of confusing but I’ll read thru it all again & just do it when the time gets here. Hope I can win a prize because I never win anything even thou I’ve left comments everywhere & entered almost every giveaway!
