I’m late posting to this, but here goes anyway. I was born two years after MLK gave this speech. I’m very lucky that I get to teach this speech as the great literature that it is. Vivid, full of literary devices, metaphors, symbolism, and so much, not to mention the content. I love teaching this speech!
I am thankful the US has come as far as we have, but we still have progress to make. It makes me wonder if Canada (or any other large nation besides Germany, which took racism to the very extreme with genocide) has ever had a problem with inequality of certain races of people. I would truly like to know.
