Blood is just not what a pregnant woman wants to see…

Yes, I had another scare today – and another trip to the emergency room. Good grief – I spend way too much time there!

But when you notice you are bleeding (from there!) – even just a bit – there is only one thing to do: get to the doctor! And since it was the long weekend and my doctor’s office was closed, I decided to go straight to the ER.

I have to admit girls – I was a mess. I was crying so hard I phoned Susan to come drive me. I was heartbroken! I thought, “This is it! I am really going to lose this baby.” And the worst part of it is Jackson, “Oh God – you can’t let Jackson’s baby sibling die!!!”

Phil and Jackson had just left an hour earlier for their first Father/Son trip to our cabin. I was just basking in my temporary freedom when it all started. I phoned Phil in tears and told him. But we decided for him to keep driving and I would phone him as soon as I knew what was happening.

So what was happening? I am still not sure.

But, thank the dear Lord, the baby’s heart is still beating!!! The doctor examined me (he also ordered an ultrasound but that won’t happen for a day or two) and he didn’t see any blood in my cervix. One of the polyps on my cervix (the doctor discovered two a couple weeks ago) looked red and perhaps inflamed, but he wasn’t sure. So we are not sure where the blood is coming from. I just hope it is the polyps, but perhaps it is from the uterus. I don’t know! I am no doctor! We will have to wait until the ultrasound I guess.

For now he told me to go home and rest and wait. Don’t you just hate “waiting?” I must say girls, I am sick of waiting! I want this baby to be finished growing and OUT of me, all healthy, pink and wrinkly.

As for Susan, I gave her quite a scare today too. (Poor thing – she worries too about Jackson and how terribly he will hurt if I lose this baby.) But her baby appears to be doing fine. She hasn’t had a cramp or a drop of blood. Isn’t it funny how pregnancies go? Some can go smoothly and others not so much. But – please Lord – hopefully in October we will both be holding our healthy babies regardless of the kinds of pregnancies we had.

So this Easter weekend, while my son and hubby have their first Father/Son trip, I will be trying to rest and keep my legs up. (But do you know what sucks – I have to stop vacuuming! I have been having so much fun keeping my house all sparkly with my new Dyson! Now I will have to sit back and let my husband have all the vacuuming fun.)

I don’t mean to make you all worry – but you know me – I just have to tell you all what is going on!!!

I sure hope you are having a good weekend – without ER visits!!! LOL

And make sure you give your kids some extra snuggles for me – I can’t tuck my son in to bed for two whole nights!

PS I am over at Faith Lifts this weekend – drop by if you have a moment.

I am so happy to hear that the baby’s heart is beating strong!! Don’t stress too much…I had bleeding (alot) with both of my pregnancies, but PTL they found the heartbead during each one. THe bleeding was blamed on my placenta. It is soooo scary and I am sorry you had to experience it. In my case it only happened the one time during each pregnancy, but it was still at the back of my mind. You and the babe are in my prayers and remember that God is in control!!!

This same thing happened to me last Monday, I mean exactly with the bleeding and everything! I know exactly how you feel, especially about being scared to lose the baby. When are you due?

I wish you the best and hope that everything turns out ok with you. So far, everything seems fine here, despite the fact that I’ll be on bedrest the remainder of my pregnancy.

Dear Janice, I know how hard it is to have bleeding in one’s pregnancy. I bled for seven weeks with Emily, had a seven week break, and then my water broke. The joke was that I used more feminine hygiene items in that seven weeks than the whole year. It was very emotional. For me, it was the loss of a twin that caused the bleeding. I had lost one and Emily fought along and survived. Her pregnancy was quite the “adventure.” I never cease to be amazed, however, at the amazing way God put our bodies together. It’s amazing that life can be sustained after much bleeding, water breaking early, and then bleeding once again. God is good and can hold that little one in your womb. I sure hope He does. Blessings to you and your family. Take it easy. I know it’s hard to rest but take care of that little one in you. :0)

I had bleeding with my last two boys and was put on bed rest. I know how scared you must be, but take a deep breath and relax. My middle son was actually placenta abruptia and they told me he wouldn’t make it and he is a perfectly healthy 11 year old with a genius iq. I will pray for you and your baby. I’m sure that everything will be fine.

    Janice –

I have to tell you, when I was pregnant with Aubrey – guess what? I had a “period” EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!! Just like “clock work” and not some little spotting either, it was a heavy “normal” period – with cramps!

Every time I scared the stuffing out of myself, taking a trip to the doctor, or the ER or somewhere – I actually bought a doppler to be able to “hear” the baby ANY time I wanted (man was that worth it, and saved some trips!)

But it was soo scary, they still don’t know why I did that – I did not with Zachary, he had his own problems though!

Mainly what my doctor told me was exactly what Carrie said – it’s your body reminding you that your carrying life, creating the ultimate – rest, relax and try to enjoy it – pregnancy has a way of passing way to quickly!

So try to enjoy it, try to rest and know that my prayers are with you!

I had bleeding during my last pregnancy, too- I think the crying comes with it automatically. Please try to rest a bit- I know it’s really hard- and stay off your feet. That Dyson will still be there later. I’m praying for you!

I had spotting during both pregnancies – both times it was because the placenta had attached very low in the uterus – so I know how scary it is. Blood is the last thing you want to see but the report you got sounds encouraging. Just do what the doctor said and let everything else wait. I have to tell you, I’m beginning to look very forward to October, too! 🙂

Oh what a roller coaster! I am sorry you’ve had so much stress. So good to hear the baby is ok. I can really relate to your post. We lost a baby at 16 weeks, and this pregnancy following that, I have been a nervous wreck. I’ve had some bleeding that sent me into a panic. Turned out to be related to kidney stones, thank God. It’s hard being the pregnant mom. SOLE responsibility for that baby growing…

Don’t be too hard on yourself! RELAX (esp. while the house is empty!) and take care of yourself. You’re taking care of that baby, too.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby!
    Happy Easter!

Janice, please rest, relax, and take it easy. I’m keeping you and your little one in my prayers. Take care of yourself. I know the Dyson is a thing of beauty, but you can vacuum all you want in a few months. For now, feet up please 🙂 Lay on the couch and watch some chick flicks while the guys are away.

Janice I’m with Steph; your body is giving you cues to rest more. Please do!
When I was bleeding a bit with my first son, the doctor told me to lay on my left side. (Actually that was just about her answer for everything, so it might not be much help, LOL.) Turns out for *me* it was just the cervix finishing plugging up or something – it was natural. I’d been going all gangbusters, too; having never been preggers before and not knowing you’re not supposed to be moving heavy boxes from one house to another so early in the pregnancy! (Duhhh, lol.)

I’m thinking of you and keeping faith that you and the wee one are just fine; that this is just your body’s way of getting your attention and telling you to be more gentle to yourself. (To the two of you, actually!)

    ((((((HUGS))))))

And some ((((((HUGS)))))) for Susan too, bless her heart. 🙂

PS – you should know that if this baby comes late in October, s/he will be a Scorpio, and we Scorpios are infamous for doing dramatic things like this to get attention. *grin* This might just be the beginning of your uhhh… excitement! 🙂 🙂
