Do you love making tasty St. Patrick’s Day treats for your kids? We’ve gathered a sweet collection of 25 festive rainbow and green snacks for St Patricks day that are easy to make and look fantastic.
St. Patrick’s Day can be fun for the whole family… but it’s a great idea to also talk to your kids about the meaning of St. Patrick’s Day and share a little about the heritage and culture of the Irish.
We can have fun with the cute symbols of leprechauns and rainbows, but we should still remember the purpose of this holiday.
First, let’s be clear, we realize that St. Patrick’s Day is NOT about green or rainbow colored food.
You can explain to your kids that while we often like to serve up cute St. Patrick’s Day treats with green or rainbow colored foods to celebrate this holiday, the real meaning of Saint Patrick’s Day is to commemorate Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
The Irish often eat corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day, but my guess is your kids may not be excited by that meal. So if you want to teach them an authentic Irish recipe, you could show them how to make Irish Soda Bread.
Once you’ve talked a little about the real aspects of St. Patrick’s Day, it’s time for colorful homemade treats!
