Finding your passion and following your life’s purpose… we often say these words, but it’s not usually an easy journey. Sadly, I think some of us might miss finding our life’s purpose because we’re not in tune with our passions and we’re not following our inner instincts for how we can use our gifts.
Fortunately life is winding road with many intersecting paths.
My own path has twisted and turned in such unexpected ways that I never could have planned my current steps 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
I struggled so profoundly in my twenties to find and follow my passions and figure out my life’s purpose.
After studying math and computer programming at school, I became a software developer and business consultant at a large consulting firm. While I performed well and succeeded at work, I felt pulled to use my creativity and desire to help others in a different way.
I left the software development industry after 6 years and embarked on my entrepreneurial journey online. I literally could not have planned my businesses at that time, because in 2002 this online world did not exist as it is today.
Thankfully, even though I’ve struggled with the fear of such an unknown future, the journey carries me forward each day. I know that the world is changing so fast, but when I use my gifts and follow my passions, I will continue to fulfill my life’s purpose.
Finding Inspiration From Others
One of the best ways to learn to listen to your own inner voice is to find inspiration from others who have followed their dreams.
After being in business for 11 years, serial entrepreneur Dane Maxwell decided to follow his lifelong passion for music.
Dane had found great material success in his work online as an entrepreneur, but he felt he wasn’t using his most important gifts.
So he took a brave step in a completely different direction. He picked up his guitar and started singing songs to help others find their own passions and fulfill their own purposes.
Writing and performing music is a deeply personal gift to share with the world. But Dane has taken this courageous step away from monetary goals to honor his lifelong passion.
Dane’s been traveling across the country and playing at many homes and events. His music is inspiring people of all ages including kids who love to sing along with the songs.
Listen to the first song on his recent album below… and be sure to watch until the end of the video for a personal message from Dane as he explains who inspired that song and the meaning behind the new album.
