When Susan and I had our baby girls two weeks apart, we gave up hope on hand me downs! Our “twin cousins” needed the same things at the same time. Yes, we got to experience the joy of having “twins” — buying everything in “twos.”
Since Susan had Julia to pass down clothes to Sophia, I have had to buy almost everything for Olivia. Most of my friends have finished with babies and have gotten rid of their baby clothes. So, sadly, I didn’t get very many hand me downs.
But now, something has changed…
Olivia is now about six inches taller than her tiny “twin cousin.” I can finally raid Julia’s old clothes, (most of which I bought her since I was so excited to finally shop in pink after having a boy!)
This weekend, I went over to Susan’s and got all of Julia’s size two and three pants and jeans, as well as a couple dresses. Livvie has grown out of almost all her bottoms and I desperately needed new clothes for her.
I forgot to take a picture of the bag stuffed with clothes. You will have to use your imagination. 😉
Then yesterday and today, I pulled out all of Olivia’s clothes out of the drawers and sorted through what still fit her.
I bagged up the “too small” clothes for Susan to go through for Sophia. What is too small for Sophia, I will pack up to donate to our local foster kids program.
With Livvie growing as fast as she does, her clothes are so gently worn I hate to see them go. But I am so glad to know that they will be a blessing for Susan and others.
Oh, I love Hand Me Downs!

My daughter went through a couple bags of hand me downs today. What a blessing!! It was like Christmas for my girl! She keeps a lot of her older brothers tshirts and hoodies but jeans, leggings & dresses are exciting

I am the “mother of all hand-me-downs” 🙂
My son keith actually has shirts, pants, coats and pajamas that have been worn by ALL 4 of his older brothers. 🙂
(it certainly saves me TONS of money each year!)

I have been tackling the same things! I got all of the bins out of the attic with the kids clothes and started calling my friends with babies and taking size requests. I have unloaded a ton of clothes to friends. Next project will be sorting through the toys.

Hand me downs are great! We have a niece and a nephew that are older than my daughter and son, so it worked out perfectly for us. Anytime I saw them wearing something cute, I knew my kids would be wearing it in a year or two.

Better late than never right? 🙂
Way to go on the hand-me-downs! We’re extremely fortunate to have neighbors with 2 girls, whose youngest is 2 years older than my oldest – she sells me her daughter’s outgrown clothes at garage sale prices, and they’re always in good shape. Plus I have a friend who gives me her hand-me-downs for Becca, which helps since a lot of our clothes don’t survive her two older sisters, lol. 🙂

We have a boy and a girl, and live near no family, so our hand me downs usually end up going to friends or good will! Of course, this post reminded me of the two sizes of clothes I need to pack up for my 9 month old daughter.. lol!

Well, I just boxed up all the clothes my son has outgrown (plus summer stuff) in the last 4-5 months! I’m super glad I’ve kept all his clothes now that we know we’re having another boy who will be due just days after Cory’s birthday! So, hopefully same seasons for the clothes and everything!

Kid clothes are a lot to tackle! I have 13 inches between my two boys, so when the older one outgrows something, it takes a while before it can fit the younger one.
We had our Christmas photo edited and ready to order.
