Interview with artemistry from “Living [Frugally] Well”

“Living [Frugally] Well”

I blog for many reasons: to get into the practice of writing daily, to provide myself with accountability in terms of reaching my goals, to share with others our journey, and most importantly, to show others that there is another, more positive way to become debt-free and reach goals that our consumer culture has told us are impossible.

I started “Living [Frugally] Well” around the end of April, beginning of May. I had another blog that I wrote off and on for over a year before this one - it was more of a learning experience, and I no longer post to it.

Little ways in which I’m cutting back on my energy consumption, tips on how to save money, recipes, new things we’re trying, book reviews.

I really like Zen Habits right now, it is probably the only one that I really read regularly.

Just put yourself out there! You’ll be surprised at how many people actually want to hear what you have to say!

Yes, I do…unfortunately, not many actually come back to see my response to their comment, so the conversation sort of dies…but I have a few regulars, and I am always happy to read what they have to say, and comment back.

Yes.

I really enjoy “Natural Childhood” - it’s in line with how I want to be as a mother and offers the kind of support that I need when I feel like a total freak (I have strong crunchy leanings).

From home, when I’m inspired or can squeeze in the time.

I probably spend about 3-5 hours a week doing both. If I’m reading a book to review, than obviously, much longer. I also spend a lot of time in the shower or just before I go to sleep thinking about what I’m going to write. I don’t really log those minutes.

Not really.

My younger brother shared his blog with me, and I thought it would be fun to try it out.

I don’t think I can remember.

Quiet mornings, nature, my child, my husband, my older brother, people who rise above their circumstances, problems that need creative solutions with limited resources.

I recently started another blog journaling my reading. It is called “Books, Glorious Books”. It’s in it’s infancy, with just two posts!

I’ve come to realize how much I truly love to write, and that I’m not half-bad (and as my art teacher used to say, not half-good, either). I’ve become a lot less afraid of being me, speaking my mind, and allowing people to like me for who I am, or not, and it’s helped me get over myself in terms of my perfectionist tendencies.
