Adventures of a Breastfeeding Mother

It started out as a way to get my thoughts organized. Then it began to turn into a way for me to really express myself, and a way for my daughters to see who I really am when they get older. I think women today do not know enough about their mothers and grandmothers; I want to make sure my daughters know me.

I’ve been blogging for about three years.

Basically anything that is on my mind. I write a lot about natural parenting, my feelings as a mother, issues mothers face, etc. I also write a lot about what is going on in the news in terms of issues concerning parenting and childbirth.

I have so many! To me a good blog is a blog that makes you say, “Hmm…I never thought of it like that.” If a blogger isn’t afraid to tell the truth and makes you think, then I’m going to keep coming back to read that blog.

You can check out my favorite blogs on my blogroll.

Write what you know, what is in your heart. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. People want to read about what real people think. I think you can always tell when a blogger is being real vs. when they are just writing what they think people will want to read.

Sometimes, yeah. It depends on what they comment on.

A few of my family members do, and a couple of my friends. It’s funny when one of them mentions the blog; I get so caught up in the offline vs. online “worlds” that it makes me pause when they clash.

I used to go to The Diaper Jungle a lot. Now if I go to a forum, it is most likely to be All Doulas.

I blog at home on the computer, mostly in the mornings. Sometimes I’ll blog while my girls are sleeping as well.

I try to post at least every other day, but sometimes life gets in the way. I try to catch up on my blog roll at least every day as well, but I’m always a little behind.

I find that I use Google to find blogs. A lot of my favorite blogs I discovered through word of mouth.

Shortly after the birth of my first daughter, I was surfing online and I stumbled across a couple. I really did think it was a great idea.

I believe the first blog I ever read was Hestia Homeschool for Young Wild Women. I believe she is the blogger that first exposed me to the concept of homeschooling as well.

My girls. Everything they do inspires me.

Other bloggers can be inspiring as well. Whenver I read about how another blogger has overcome a challenge, or reached a goal, then that inspires me.

Yes. I have my doula website, and I also run the site for a local non-profit organization called WomenAid. My husband and I are also working on other sites of our own, which we are really excited about.

Blogging has impacted my life immensely. I can’t even begin to write down the amount of knowledge and inspiration that I’ve come across by reading other people’s blogs. I think blogging has made me examine myself and my life, and helped keep me accountable for myself while reaching my goals. I have absolutely grown as a person through blogging, and I think readers can see that through my blogging.
