Susie's Homemade

I blog for a creative outlet and to promote my business.

I have been blogging since the beginning of 2008 and I am enjoying the social aspects.

I normally blog about my latest adventures in the kitchen and the garden.

My favorite blogs are those that talk about etsy, or gardening or cooking or entertaining. I have a listing of the ones I frequent on my blog.

My advice is to blog like no one is reading because, in the beginning, no one will. The more you think about those eyes that are consuming your work, the more editing you will do and the less authentic and fun it will be.

I don’t chat with visitors right now because I don’t have that many yet. But, I welcome any conversation that my blog would generate.

My friends are pretty plugged in and they check my blog out when they are online.

I visit the forum on Etsy.com pretty regularly. That is where my shop is posted so, I get a lot of good crafting business information from there.

I blog in my living room at night after my daughter has gone to bed. It is the only time I get to think.

I spend about 10 hours a week blogging. That’s about an hour a day plus a couple extra hours on the weekend. I would love to do more but until they add that 25th hour to the day, I am limited.

I don’t use search engines to find blogs to read. I like to stumble on them organically.

I first heard about blogging when I was pursuing another business venture. Although the interest in the other venture died down, my affinity to blogging did not. So, I am happy to find another avenue in which to continue blogging.

Gosh…I can’t remember the first blog I ever read. It has been a long time.

I get a lot of inspiration from the Food Network and Martha Stewart. I like to take a kernel of an idea I get from watching those shows and grow them into something all my own.

At this time, I don’t have any other websites.

I think that blogging has had a positive impact on my life. It gives me the opportunity to write and create in a environment that is non-threatening. I am not out to change the world but, I do enjoy contributing my little something to the universe and that is pretty special.
