Mommy Monsters Inc

Mommy Monsters is my “virtual megaphone” of advocacy for children in the state social system. With more than 500,000 children currently in need of temporary or permanent homes across the United States, I believe that foster-adoption is a Christian’s best and most eloquent statement for being “pro-life.” Craig and I adopted two children this way, and it has been a life-changing experience.

About five years. In addition to Mommy Monsters , I also have blogs for faith seekers and Catholic converts and Catholic writers … and have recently created a blog about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, to help me promote my latest book, Behold Your Mother: Mary Stories and Reflections from a Catholic Convert.

Mommy Monsters has all kind of information for moms, including book reviews and practical advice as well as reflections to inspire and encourage. As a practicing Catholic, I write from a faith-based perspective — but the information has helped many families who aren’t Catholic, and all are welcome.

My new favorite is “Antique Mommy,” and I frequently “haunt” both “Connecting Moms” and “League of Extraordinary Wives.” I have a blogroll of my other favorites on my site as well.

Networking is very important. Be sure to post comments and blogroll the sites you visit most often. I once read that it’s good to shoot for 250 word posts (about one typewritten page, double spaced), but I tend to run longer and so far no one has complained!

When I have a few spare moments I like to do this … It’s good to build up those cyber networks!

Good question. I hope so!

About 70% of the time I work from my office … the other 30% from my laptop wherever I happen to be. Most often I write at night, since I have small children. When they are at school I’m working to pay the bills!

I try to update each of my blogs at least twice a week.

Technorati, Google Reader, and I participate in various Carnivals.

Hmm…. I think my computer genius husband turned me on to these!

I don’t recall… sorry.

My children inspire me every day to be a better person, and a better mom. My faith in God really “centers” me and gives me both hope and direction. You really need both if you’re going to get far in this life!

My book website is ChristianWord.com.

I’m also an adoptive parent columnist at CatholicMom.com and Catholic Exchange.com.

Blogging has helped me to write better, faster, and more creatively. It teaches you to look for the stories and miracles in life, so you can pass them on.

Being a mom can be isolating at times, so reading other women’s blogs can be reassuring. It’s good to know that others have faced the same challenges, and lived to tell the tale!

Thanks for listening.
