I started blogging because I felt the need for a creative outlet. I decided to blog about children’s literature because as a former preschool teacher I developed a love for children’s books and now that I’m not teaching anymore and my kids are grown I needed an excuse to read all of the books that I love.
I also hope to develop a treasury of activities for parents and teachers to use.

Since November of 2007.

I blog about children’s picture books. I give a synopsis of the story, and at least two activities to enhance the joy of learning in the book. I also blog about learning games and activities. My hope is that the blog will become a well used resource of shared ideas.

The best advice that I have received - be patient!
Sometimes it seems as if no one is reading what I write and then suddenly I will get a comment from a complete stranger and I think, “Wow, I’m not just sending this out to empty syberspace.” It’s a great feeling.

Yes, please!

Much of my readership is from friends and family. I hope that they are passing the blog along to their friends and they to their friends and so on.

I spend most of my time at my desk, but I also like to borrow my son’s laptop and blog in my husband’s home office. Nice together time.
Sometime ideas come in the strangest places and I have to write my posts the old fashion way, with pen and paper, until I get home to my computer.

Right now I use Technorati and Blog Catalog.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit this but I first heard about blogging on Good Morning America and I had to ask my husband what it was. My brother had a blog but I didn’t understand how it worked.

Children, family, books, faith, the miracles that surround us everyday. A line from Elizabeth Barrett Browning says:
“Earth’s crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; But only he who sees, takes off his shoes…”
That inspires me.

I find it so wonderful to put my thoughts and experiences into words. So often the important things just float around in my brain. When I blog I am able to give credibility to the thoughts, people, and events that make me who I am.
I enjoy reading what other bloggers write as well. Blogging offers a unique educational resource, a chance to learn from others and learn about others.
