Recognize & Remember

The Lord has laid on my heart the topic of recognizing and remembering His Faithfulness throughout our lives as women, mothers, wives and daughters. As a MOPS Mentor, I write about mothering, my faith, and my family.

My desire is to inspire women to love their husbands and children, to recognize God at work in everyday life and then to remember these memories when the tough times come (and they will come). Remembering God’s faithfulness is so necessary throughout our lives because there will be times when we walk through the fire and flood waters (Isaiah 43:1-3). We are called to pass on to the next generation, God’s wonderful works in our lives

“Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children and their children to the next generation.” Joel 1:3.

How can we tell God’s works if we don’t recognize & remember them?

As an author and speaker, I have been writing newsletters for years to the Reminders of Faith audience. These newsletters were full of ideas of how to remember and record God’s faithfulness. In the fall of 2007, my youngest daughter and I went to Latvia on a mission trip with Buckner Ministries, Shoes for Orphan Souls.

I started the Recognize & Remember blog then to write each day about our experiences in Latvia. I kept the blog active since so many wanted me to write my MOPS devotions and thoughts on faith and family.

Absolutely!! I love to hear from other MOPS Moms ~ I have had some dear posts from MOPS steering members who need a little encouragement. The Lord has blessed me with friends all across the world and my blog is a wonderful way to connect with them as well as to meet new friends each and every day.

My daughters read my blog on a regular basis to see if I have written about them recently. I have many, many MOPS moms from my MOPS group and from groups that I have talked to that also read my blog regularly. My most popular posts are The Angry Mother ~The Wounded Daughter = Grace and My husband – Compatible or Completion. I have received numerous emails concerning these posts.

I keep a running list of ideas for topics for Recognize & Remember. Sometimes, the topic sits on the list until I know that the Lord is calling me to write about it. Some days, I write about a topic that is not on the list. I usually always post my MOPS devotions at some point. Typically, it takes me about an hour to write and re-write each post and to go back and correct my mistakes. I typically write late at night and do the corrections the next day.

God’s word inspires me and my memories. I am so thankful for the written words of God that give us everything we need for life.

I have written for Reminders of Faith http://www.remindersoffaith. As the Director of Marketing & Affiliates, I write for Share HIS Story http://www.sharehisstory.com website and their blog http://www.sharehisstory.wordpress.com . I have also written Scrapbooking Your Spiritual Journey and The Women’s Ministry Guide to Scrapbooking, published by Reminders of Faith.

God is at work writing His story in all of our lives. Just as Mary (Jesus’ Mother) treasured special, recognizable moments in her life (see my post Treasured Moments of Mary, Jesus’ Mother)—we also have been given special recognizable moments of God’s faithfulness in our lives. I envision Mary standing at the foot of the cross wondering what God’s plan was in the death of Jesus—yet remembering how God had been faithful in her life as Jesus’ mother. When we come to moments in our lives that leave us wondering about God’s plan—my hope is that we too will be able to draw upon the memories of God’s faithfulness because we have recognized God’s work in our lives, recorded it in some manner and then remembered how God has been always been faithful.
