Interview with Jonny’s Mommy from “Boondock Ramblings”

I blog simply as an outlet for my creativity and to hear from other moms, or other people, about their own experiences. I find that hearing others stories can help me to feel like I’m not a complete failure as a wife, a mother, a person. Maybe they are, but I’m not. Ha! Just kidding. The bottom line is that I blog for fun. It started as a way to update family members on my pregnancy and then on my son and snow balled from there.

I’ve been blogging since 2006, so about two years, but I became more of a serious blogger in the last six months or so.

I normally blog about my son and my experiences with him, but I also blog about my life as a small town reporter and simply about humorous events I observe. My son and my nieces make for some funny blog fodder, as does jabbing at my Hubby a little bit. I only hope he doesn’t get it into his head he can jab back. I might start crying or something. I can dish it out, but, oh boy, I can not take it.

I really enjoy Notes From Inside My Head, Burgh Baby’s Mom, one called Mad, Mad Housewife, Rants and Raves, Looky Daddy, the Potty Diaries and Life on the Roof. These are all real mamas and daddies and just very funny.
I also enjoy humor blogs, which can be found at http://www.humor-blogs.com, if I can promote that here.

Just have fun with it. Don’t worry if you don’t post everyday. Don’t worry if you post every day. Just have fun. And don’t make your posts too long. I’ve found that the more I ramble, the less readers stay with me and comment. Try to comment on other blogs and make friends. If you comment on their blogs then they will most likely visit your blog and maybe give you some advice you were looking for or simply become a “blogging friend.”

Yes. Somedays I find I don’t have time to chat too much, but on the days I do it is a lot of fun

Yes. A lot of them, which is why I have to be careful who I complain about. Ha! Ha!

I try to blog outside of work, in the evening, after my son has fallen asleep and at home. I have been known to post on my blog at work during breaks, such as lunch, or my afternoon break. Mainly, I feel more comfortable doing it at home on my own computer, across the hall from my son where I can hear him if he needs me.

Yikes. Do I have to admit that? Maybe like 10-12 hours, combined. Sometimes less depending on the week.

My brother started a blog about running and my sister-in-law started one about general life. I started writing one and it was about nothing, then I jotted some stuff down after I became pregnant and it went from there. It wasn’t until last year I realized how many people blog and started to form a network of blogging friends.

My brothers and then my sister-in-laws. The third one I read, though, was Notes From Inside My Head, by Sparx and I fell in love! Her son is a little older than mine and she just cracks me up. The first time she commented on my blog, i felt totally honored because I had looked up to her as a blogger.

Life inspires me. My son inspires me. My relationship with Christ inspires me. And my parents inspire me.
On a less serious note, but yet serious at the same time, my husband in tight jeans also inspires me. For many different reasons.

Yes. I have a blog called Notes from A Small Town Girl at http://www.notesfromsmalltown.wordpress.com.

I have learned a lot about myself, my lack of patience and also about how much of a worrier I am. I think blogging has helped me gain a little more confidence. As far as writing, it has forced me to be more concise and to write tighter. I have a long way to go, but it is helping me in my full-time job as a writer. There are days I should look over my entries and re-do them before I publish and don’t, but there are other days I catch myself and really try to be more careful on how I word things.
