Interview with Mom Unplugged from “Unplug Your Kids”
“Unplug Your Kids”

I have been without TV for over five years. My three children have never known TV at home. We also avoid all loud, flashy, battery-operated toys.
My blog started with the suggestion from a friend, who thought I should start a kids’ toy shopping blog. This has evolved into a toy, book, lifestyle blog that I am really enjoying.
I didn’t even know what a blog was at first, but now I am addicted and derive great social pleasure through the online connections I have made!

My first post was on February 5, 2007, but you’ll have to go to my “No Batteries Required - Toys That Don’t Make Noise!” page to find it. This page was my original blog.

I blog about life without TV, TV-free kids and what they do, unplugged activity ideas, great kids’ books, and life in general. Last April for National TV Turn-Off Week I hosted a
Since I am a cat lover with six cats, I also participate in the Cats On Tuesday meme. Gardening and nature enter the mix also.
Sometimes I just ramble on about things that seem funny to me!
Unlike most blogs, my blog has several pages: 1-Main Page, 2-“No Batteries Required - Toys That Don’t Make Noise”, 3-Children’s Books We Love, and 4-Children’s Stuff I Wish I Had Invented.

Parenting: The Not Quite Crunchy Parent, Never A Dull Moment, Toddler Planet, Crib Chronicles
Cats: Daisy The Curly Cat, We Three Ginger Cats Tales, Skeezix’s Scratching Post
Nature: Earth Is Crammed With Heaven, Mon@rch’s Nature Blog

Write every day if you can. The first post is awkward, but it gets much easier as you go along. Once you realize that you actually have readers other than your friends and family, it is really fun! Be prepared to become addicted!

Yes I do. I also often email responses when an email is available to me. Comments are wonderful and make you realize that real humans are out there reading and (hopefully) appreciating what you write!

I blog in my kitchen when I have time (naptime for the baby usually, or after kids go to bed!).

Too much. I try to post every day. I am supposed to be “unplugged” and I don’t have TV, but this blogging addiction has me plugged into the computer more than I would like!

I first started finding blogs through the Kindblog blogrolland one blog linked to another, and so forth.

Everything! Often the most unexpected source of inspiration makes the best post.
