MsBelle - A Glimpse Into My World

My blog was a way for my mother and other family members who live some distance away to keep up with my son and his adventures in growing up. Another reason was so I might make contacts with other jewelry artisans and trade links (and tips and tricks!). So far it’s worked out great! I’ve made many new and dear friends and hope to continue that trend!

I began blogging in January but have been writing all my life really. The writing part is nothing new. The showing it to the world is the new part!

In my blog I discuss the adventures of being a mom. Being an ‘older’ first time mom is quite an experience! I find it wears me out to try and keep up with my son. It’s also fascinating seeing the world through his eyes. It’s enlightening and quite touching and heartwarming.
I also write about my jewelry: creating it, struggling to create it, the ins and outs of selling online, etc. I occasionally write about the people who inspire me and the artists whose pieces I adore.

Keep up with your entries. Even if it’s just a blurb, no one likes to come to your blog to find the same ol’ thing. A joke, a quote, or a picture with a thought for the day, whatever it might be, just keep it new.

Oh, I love to comment on others’ blogs and I adore reading what people say on mine! It’s so much fun and makes them endearing to you. It’s like an extended family.

Quite a few in my family read my blog. My mother reads it, as well as some of my siblings. I live about 2 1/2 hours from most of my family and through my blog they can see what my son has been up to and watch him grow up.

I frequently visit the Etsy forums. Boy, the things you can learn in that place! That’s another very good place to meet people and share ideas and experiences. You can also keep up with what is going on with Etsy, the venue on which I sell my jewelry. It is the best place I know of to buy and sell all things handmade.
I also participate in discussions on Flickr, the photo sharing place online. There are groups you can join and participate in discussions. I have found Flickr invaluable for my growth as an artist.

I blog late at night after my son goes to sleep. It’s difficult to stop and start during the day. “Mommy, come look!” “Mommy, can you help me?” Too many interruptions. So I wait until it’s mommy time and then I do my thing. You can find me at http://msbelle.blogspot.com/

Oh, I’d say I spend at least an hour or more a day. I’m a night person anyway, so it doesn’t bother me to spend time reviewing as many as 10 blogs a night and trying to comment on them. I try to spread cheer, make people smile, let people know that someone out there cares.

I found out about blogging through Etsy. I’m telling you, Etsy is a great place with great people. Individual artists blog, Etsy itself has a blog and some of the different Etsy groups or ’street teams’ have blogs. It’s the thing to do!

Etsy’s blog.

Nature, family, other artists, conversations, life in general. Inspiration is everywhere!

Oh yes, my shop on Etsy. Please do come visit and browse around the entire Etsy marketplace!
