I started The Mommy Spot after I realized that all the research I’ve done on healthy ways to raise my son, might be useful to others. It seemed to me that if I had all these questions on things like homemade baby food, usage of over-the-counter medications for children, and natural remedies, then there must be others looking for answers to the same questions.

I’ve been blogging since 2006, and I’m simply addicted. It’s a great immediate way to reach lots of people with information I’m passionate about.

I blog about all the baby-raising information I find. If there’s something I have a concern about, such as SIDS, I simply blog on the research I’ve come across, possible solutions to problems, etc.

Just start blogging. Don’t worry about how great it reads at first. You’ll eventually find a voice and narrow down what you want to write about. Or you may find you like having a broad spectrum. After all, it’s not a book. You can cover as much or as little info as you like.

I love getting comments on my blog. It gives me a better sense of who’s out there reading. I get a lot of good info on parenting from others who have the same philosophies as myself.

I usually blog after my 8-hour work-at-home day. I have a laptop which I sit on the coffee table so I can be on the floor with my son. Sometimes I type with one hand, and other times it takes hours to get through an entry because I stop a lot for playtime or diaper changes.

I write and read almost every day. I love to see what else is out there, and if I don’t get an entry out every few days I feel “itchy”.

I use Technorati, Reddig, Netscape, and a few other. I have links to all those on my blog, if anyone is looking for venues to promote their own blog.

Finding a good chunk of information that I just have to share. For instance, I might come across a part of a book on children’s health and I just know I have to write about it and pass it on.

I have a recipe blog called Nature’s Kitchen. It features recipes without any processed foods; lots of beans, soups, fresh vegetables.
