Interview with Jenn Taylor from “Something to Say”

I blog for the outlet creatively and emotionally. It’s great to have a place to talk about whatever is on my mind.

Officially, only about a month. My first posts to this blog include the emails and letters to home during our first year living in Holland. So even though I wasn’t publishing those things then I consider that I was blogging long before I actually registered a personal page.

I will blog about almost anything that happens in my daily life. Generally that means it is either a story about one of my kids, including my husband, or it is a piece about living in Holland. Adapting to a new culture has it’s challenges at times, but it is also a rewarding experience as well. Just like anything in life I suppose.

I love to surf and read. I am a real lurker around the blog world, but my favorite haunt is dooce, she makes me laugh on a daily basis. New stops I have recently discovered: scribbit, Soccer Mom in Denial, and It Coulda Been Worse. I enjoy reading these and others. I just like to read, compare notes and commiserate with others out there.

I am a newbie and I will listen to any and all advice from the seasoned veterans.
I would say to anyone who is considering blogging to just do it. It’s really a great outlet.

I love feedback and comments. Yes! Bring it on and we can chat away.

To build some momentum for my blog I initially sent out the link to friends, family and others, so yes, they read it. At least every once in awhile.

In my home office. Whenever the mood strikes me.
During the days I am home with my youngest so I have some real flexibility with my time. It’s very nice to be able to write when the iron is hot so to speak. I can sit down at the computer and he plays nearby with his toys. And with me. Thus far, it works quite well.

Maybe too much, but it is my current obsession.

Yes. Technorati.

My husband introduced me to the concept a couple of years ago. He was lurking at a few of his own favorites and I asked him what it was all about and he clued me in. I am a little slow on the uptake sometimes when it comes to keeping up with the times. I thought it was awful darn cool that you could just write and discuss whatever was on your mind with whoever was stopping by to read. My husband suggested I write my own. So ultimately, I did. (do)

Dooce. I linked to her from something else I was looking up and then I was utterly hooked. She’s a fantasitc writer and absolutely hilarious.

To write? Anything that evokes emotion; whether that be happiness, anger or other. Emotion sends me to the keyboard. What inspires me as a person? Kindness in others, a great sunset, beach waves and mountain meadows.
