Surviving Motherhood

Partly, because it’s theraputic! I keep a journal in which I write out prayers and spiritual things with which I’m dealing, but that’s all between God and me. Blogging allows me to share with other moms. Sharing about my struggles and the things on my heart with these ladies truly helps me work through them myself.
Mostly, I blog because I believe there is HUGE value in being honest with one another about our struggles as moms. Many women have told me they’ve been encouraged that they “aren’t alone” as they’ve read my blog or book. I share about my life because God has given me hope and I want to pass it on.

Since September, 2006.

I blog about good and bad times with the kids, precious or funny things they do, and stuff God is teaching me through mothering - about myself or life in general. I am a mother and a child of God and my blog flows from my heart.

I love it when visitors leave comments on my blog, and I try to respond to their comments as well. Yes, I love chatting!

For my birthday, my husband and kids cleaned up a corner of the playroom and turned it into an “office” for me, complete with a desk for my computer. So that’s usually where I blog. And when? Well, that varies - after the kids are in bed or when they’re at school, mostly.

This varies, too, depending on what’s going on with the rest of the family. On a good day, I might be able to devote an hour to it. But most days are too full for that, and I may get zero to fifteen minutes to write and/or read.

When I was writing my book and setting up my website, my editor and book coach turned me on to blogging. She said it’s a great way to reach out and let people know what you’re doing. I had no idea how much I would love doing it!

The thought that God would use me - a broken, imperfect women - to bring hope to other overwhelmed moms definitely inspires me. Sometimes I’m having a hard time with the kids and I’m at my wits’ end and I start thinking, “Who am I to be offering hope to other moms? I am such a mess!” But God, in His sovereignty and goodness, has seen fit to use broken me to share the gift of hope. THAT inspires me!
