Interview with Nan from “Writer Mom”

I blog because, to quote Oprah, it’s my “me time.” I write for pleasure and for sanity. When I blog I feel that I am connected to the outside world and honing my writing skills - developing my own distinctive voice at the same time.

I just started blogging in March of 2006. My husband had been bugging me to start a blog since early 2005 but I laughed at him and told him that #1 I hated the word “blog.” It reminded me of what a grown man sounds like when he throws up. And #2 I thought blogging was only for people who like to hear themselves talk. Turns out if that is the case then I happen to be one of those folks. I blog about 10 times more than he does now.

I blog about things that strike me funny, theological thoughts, personal daily experiences, highs and lows of Mommyhood, wifehood, daughterhood and sisterhood. I blog about funny childhood memories. It’s really quite a mixed bag. Always a surprise.

I always read my friend Ree’s blog, Confessions of a Pioneer Woman, Mel’s blog Actual Unretouched Photo, Tim Challies at Challies dot com, and a good smattering of others as well.

Blog often. Be yourself.

Yes!! I love it when people comment. I try to respond often.

Yup. My husband faithfully reads daily… because if he doesn’t he has to hear me say, “Did you read my blog today?! Did ya, did ya? Huh? Huh?” My Mom, sister and brother all read it as well as many “old” and current friends.

I blog in the evenings when the kids are in bed and during the day in fits and starts when I can grab a moment between lessons, house work, playing with the baby, etc… I am usually on my recliner or on my couch. Gotta love a laptop!

Ummm… what was that? I’m a little hard of hearing. ;^P

Yup. Technorati!

I honestly can’t remember. I remember I decided to blog when I was about to explode with my thoughts and had to get them out somewhere. So I spewed them into the blogosphere and hence my blog was born. Sort of like the big bang.

Just about everything. From the mundane to the insane, from the big things I see God doing to the little things my kids do or say.
