I am a Canadian writer living in Germany and I felt very isolated after my second child was born. I wanted nothing more than to connect with other mothers, but my own health needed so much attention I couldn’t get out there.

As a technology journalist, I also felt a professional responsibility to explore blogging as a form of writing and interacting with readers. I met Hsien Hsien Lei who is one of the most prolific writers in the health blogosphere and she suggested I try writing with and was born about the same time as my daughter. The first post went live when she was exactly a month old.

Occassionally I cover other issues of major concern to understanding reproductive and women’s health.

My goal is to use to convince mothers to take care of themselves, their emotional and physical health and to keep their financial houses in order.


Comments are the only way for a blogger to know if she is striking the right notes and being helpful to her readers. A great day at

I wish I could say an hour, but I know it is longer.

There are about 5 blogs I read every day, 10 I read at least once a week and 50 that I look at once a month or so. I also try to read at least one new blog a day, but unless it captivates me, I probably won’t go back.


I wanted to make sure women’s health concerns are seen as valid, important and worthy of attention from women, researchers, doctors and other medical professionals. We are not baby-making machines to be cast aside once the child is born.
is my way of asking all new mothers “And, what about you? How are you today?” And taking her answere seriously.
