I recently decided to blog my family’s favorite recipes and stories about us to help encourage families to spend time cooking together, eating around the table together, sharing memories together and sharing the Word of God around these activities. I have lived in five southern states and will be featuring them in my Southern Classic Recipes.
I am a Christian Mom who tries day by day to teach our five children that God has a special plan for their lives. I will be blogging often about my life experiences that I have learned from and try diligently to teach our children. I know that God can use everything that has happened in my life to encourage others who might be going through a similar situation. I have had a lot of difficult experiences over the years like most people do, but I want to learn something from them.
My prayer is that by telling others my experiences that it might help you too. I hope that you see that This Little Light of Mine will not burn out in difficult situations. In other words, my Faith will always be in the Lord. He is my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer. My God is my Rock in whom I will take refuge. Psalms 18:2 I have seen in my life that God really does work everything out for those who believe and trust Him. .
I hope you enjoy my family’s favorite recipes. The recipes are all southern favorites from states we have lived in including: AL, AR, TN, GA, and LA. I have put my own spin on these great regional recipes. I will confess that I have a huge addiction to cookbooks. I am that crazy person that reads every word of a cookbook. I will be recommending some of my favorite cookware and gadgets for the kitchen. We hope you and your family will enjoy them as much as we do.
I will be using this blog to recommend some of the great places to visit that we have experienced as a family and our favorite southern restaurants from these states. I hope you will be able to use some of this information to make lots of memories with your family.
I pray is that by blogging it will encourage families to cook together, eat around the table together, play together and share the Word of God together. I believe that this is the recipe to help build strong families that stick together, trust each other and love each other.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I also have a non-profit website to teach children the Word of God with a great bible game at http://www.sweeptheword.com
Your sister in Christ, Diane Roark

I just started blogging the first of October 2011. I am loving it. I have been posting at least once a day.

I try at least 2 to 3 times a week to post step by step pictures of a great Southern recipe. The other days of the week I have been posting about our family’s favorite places like Silver Dollar City in Branson, The Ozark Folk Center in AR., The New Orleans Zoo and many more.
I have also posted about our family’s favorite restaurants. My husband recently posted about The new movie Courageous and my daughter loves to read and is posting about Christian Fiction.

Since I love cooking, I do check out other cooking blogs.
I really do love 5 Minutes for Moms. I can take 5 minutes and find something on the blog to encourage me. I love the fact that the people blogging have a heart for God.

I am a newbie but my advice is love what you do. Blogging should not be a chore but a fun thing to do. For me, I absolutely love it. I have found the thing in my life that God can use to bring him Glory. That is our whole purpose in life to bring God Glory.
My other advice is to blog often. Eventually, someone will notice.

I love feedback. It lets me know how I can improve or it lets me know that God is using me to encourage others.

Most of them have signed up to receive daily e-mail alerts. I think they love leaving me comments.

I blog mostly after I have put my kids to bed. Usually, I am sitting at my kitchen table. I need quit to think about what to say. I love it when it is just me, my computer and God directing me.

It takes me so much longer to cook these days because am taking pictures of every step. After getting all the pictures, I blog at night. Most days I spend about 4 to 6 hours a day working on my blog.

I recently in the last couple of days discovered Technorati.

I have a friend who homeschool and her children have several blogs.

I am inspired by my love for cooking, my love for cooking with my family and teaching my children to cook, my love for having family time around the table, and talking about God’s Word.
I also love to watch the faces of my family and friends and trying something that I have made.
This site was created after adopting two children and they had never heard about God. I had a literal dream about developing children’s Bible games that were fun and exciting. Read more at http://www.sweeptheword.com It has a FREE non-profit children’s Bible game “Noah”.

Everyday God shows me something that I need to work on in my life. This morning I was blogging about a piece of pottery. I felt like God was saying I am molding you into the person that I want you to be. I AM the potter you are the clay. Sometimes in my life I tend to want to be the potter. Blogging has helped me seek God even more.
