I say that I blog because it is a substitute for my kids’ baby albums, but in all honesty, I blog because I enjoy the writing process. Also, I want to take the time to capture this rich period in my life while my boys are young–and I hope to do it in a way that is interesting to readers whether they have children of their own or not.

My first post was on the auspicious date of June 3, 2009, just before we embarked on a large kitchen remodeling project in our 100-year old home.

I blog about parenting, milestones, home improvement, health struggles, our upcoming year abroad in Australia…my life and the way that I perceive it.

Just start writing! There will be a natural progression as you evolve as a writer, but you just need to start doing it to get better.

Yes, I welcome comments and usually reply to them as well!

Yes, most of my family reads my blog, and I post updates to Facebook so any friends who are interested can read it as well.

None at the moment–are there some I shouldn’t be missing out on?

I blog when I feel inspired and when I have ‘free’ time, which is not as much as I would like. It’s usually after the husband and kids are tucked away for the evening, so I have some space, both mentally and physically.

A friend told me about Google Reader, which has consolidated my favorite blog into one convenient format. I can’t believe I wasn’t using it earlier! I probably spend a couple hours over the course of the week reading, and an hour writing, tops.

No–I either read friends’ blogs, or I happen upon others randomly.

my one friend from law school that I keep in touch with asked me one day if I ever read any blogs–this was probably 7 years ago. I said no, I had never heard of them, but I started shortly thereafter. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology and I love stories about the human spirit, and blogging is a perfect platform.

the beauty and fragility of life

yes–I’m a solo practitioner trademark attorney, and my law practice website can be found at http://www.annietunheim.com

Reading blogs has made me a better mother in so many ways. Reading about loss has made me value my own family that much more. I’m more patient with myself and feel more dialed in with the common thread that runs through all women who are doing the often heartwrenching but gifted task of motherhood.
