I write because I have things I must say. I need someone to cry to about rough times. I need to hold up a picture of my daughter, share stories of her, and try to explain what that baby means to me. I need to share aches and happiness about things in my marriage. I need to share my joy when remarkable things happen. I need feedback. I need to whisper fears and worries and frustrations. I need to ask for advice when I am overwhelmed. I need to open my computer and see comments from people who have been where I have been and made it through.

I’ve blogged and journaled for years, but I began writing on Chambanachik in early 2009.

The biggest themes in my life- the struggles and joys in marriage, being a new mother, being a National Guard family, and my thoughts and loves.

I like to read other military spouse blogs, but I also have a long list on my blog of some of my favorites.

Try to write every day or at least every other day. Getting into the habit of taking time to write is very helpful. You may not feel like writing that particular day, but it stretches your writing muscles.

I try to reply to nearly every comment I receive, if the readers have their reply-to emails set up. I want them to know how much I appreciate their feedback.

I usually write daily.

Anything can-I write because it makes me reflect on so much I would otherwise miss. Blogging is especially good for this- a moment that could be so seemingly little can turn into a story. I can take a photo, remember the story that is built around it, and relive that little sliver of time.

My writing has been published on homefrontunitednetwork.com and wivesinbloom.com, as well as many guest posts on milspouse blogs.
