On A Joyful Journey

I like to blog to chronicle our family journey. I have a small niche (homeschooling a child with Down syndrome) but lots to share – insights made know to me through the years and the knowledge I’ve gained.

I also like to share my faith journey. I try to articulate the powerful ways the Lord has helped me through some very difficult times in my life – the death of my oldest daughter and raising a child with Down syndrome, not to mention my very typical daughter! I try to live my life and give all I do to the glory of God.

I became interested in blogging while reading blogs primarily written by other Christian homeschooling moms and families with children with Down syndrome. I found it very thought provoking and inspiring to see how their faith directed their path and how Jesus works in their lives.

Homeschooling, Down syndrome, family life.

I absolutely enjoy interacting with those who comment on my blog. I wish more people would take the time to leave a comment!

My blog can be found at On A Joyful Journey. I average 2-3 blog posts per week.

I spend about 3-5 hours per week reading blogs and writing blog posts. I have an incredibly busy life as most homeschooling moms do. I have found google reader has really helped to organize and minimize the time spent sitting at my laptop.

I belong to a special club that is filled with insightful, loving parents as the mom of a child with Down syndrome. Many moms with children with Down syndrome blog to share their lives and the joy the know as parents watching their children live, learn and grow.

My faith inspires me to live a joyful life glorifying God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to the best of my ability in my broken human condition.

My writing can be found in many places on the internet associated with homeschooling children with Down syndrome. I have several articles on the Riverbend Down Syndrome Support Group site and other places around the web.

I think blogging has inspired me to take the time to share our lives and what we have learned on this earthly journey. I don’t have any special gift for writing but believe my writing skills have improve immensely.

Reading blogs has definitely challenged me to respond and articulate my point of view succinctly and to speak the truth in love to give hope to others in traveling on similar paths.
