Following In My Shoes

My reasons for blogging have changed as my life has changed. When I first started, blogging was simply a hobby and a way to journal through infertility. Then, as we entered into the adoption process, it became a way to work through new emotions and to share God’s blessing with our friends and family.

Now, I have many reasons why I blog. Blogging is a creative process that allows me to use the talents God gave me. It is also a unique way to connect with other moms, (both new and the “been there, done that” moms) to share experiences, and to encourage others.

My normal topics are usually just the quirky events of daily life — which are normally provided by my silly husband and daughter. But, I also blog about the issues with which I struggle, cry over, and pray for.

I recently discovered Angie Smith’s blog, Bring the Rain. She is an amazing, Godly woman who shares the funny moments & the raw moments in her life. I absolutely love her blog.

Don’t be afraid to share your blog with others! I kept mine private for several years before making the choice to go public. Joining blogging networks and forums allowed me to connect with other women/moms without leaving my house — a definite plus when you have a toddler! I do not regret choosing to give complete strangers a glimpse of what goes through my head. :)

I adore receiving AND giving comments — it gives me the chance to have a conversation with those who come by for a visit.

I blog, from home, during nearly every moment of my daughter’s naps!

I probably spend at least 3 hours a day writing and reading. Sometimes I’m being entertained by what I find, sometimes I’m convicted, and sometimes God ministers to me through the blog I’m reading. There is always something gained.

It’s interesting to go back through my blog (reading the excited posts, the angry posts, the scared posts, & the joyful posts) and see where God has taken me over the past several years — how He has answered prayers, and how He has developed me as a woman, wife, and mother. It’s helped to clearly see how God has been present for every single moment.
