I started out blogging as a way to develop my writing. It forced me to write a structured post three times a week or so, and helped me learn to organize my thoughts. I really loved it, and found my mind constantly thinking of new things to research and write about. It keeps me enthusiastic about both motherhood and my spirituality.

I blog about motherhood and interfaith spirituality, including book reviews, tips for incorporating meditation into a busy day, and profiles of historic women mystics from all the world’s religions.

Pick a topic you are passionate about, and develop a goal about how often you want to write. Then make yourself do it on those days, no matter how you feel! Once you sit down, you will get better and better at letting the ideas and words flow. Also, check out other blogs on your topic and comment frequently.

Yes! My family does, as well as many of the students in my meditation classes. It has opened up a lot of interesting conversations that probably would not have happened if I hadn’t blogged on a subject first. Sometimes it is easier to communicate certain ideas in my blog than in person.

I like the religious debate forum on Cafemom.com. It has a lot of members with all different types of religious backgrounds, and is a great forum for learning about other’s beliefs, and for sharing your own. I also like the spirituality, meditation, and religion forums on BellaOnline.

I blog while my kids are school, or late at night, after the kids are in bed. It has become a good replacement for TV, and a better way of winding down.

Probably 10-15 hours a week.

Any sharing of information inspires me. I love Wikipedia, and any blogs that really try to inform and educate in a nice way. I believe respectful sharing is the key to bridging differences of all types in our society, including religious ones, and moms are especially well-suited for this, because we share so much as moms already.

Yes, the website for my meditation classes is http://www.TheMaatInstitute.com. I have also contributed to a site called Heroes for Healing at http://jennymannion.com/heroes-of-healing/ which is a wonderful directory of contemporary spiritual teachers, healers and authors.

Reading other’s blogs, especially other moms, has really opened my eyes to just how much we all share, and how much diversity there is in this country, religiously and otherwise. As moms we all share many of the same everyday issues and social concerns, and as spiritual seekers, we all share many of the same questions and desires. So I love blogs in both those areas, and hope mine can contribute to the conversation in some small way.
