Whenever anyone asked me what my “dream job” would be, the answer has always been I’d love to be a writer. I discovered blogs and thought that’s a way I can write about things near and dear to my heart. I blog about being the mom of two boys, one of whom just became a teenager. I don’t know how that happened, I just woke up one day with a child taller than me. It makes for a very interesting life!

I first started thinking about blogging in November 2007. I know how I am, mainly a procrastinator afraid of any slight change, so I gave myself a deadline of January 1 to have started a blog. Ha! I managed to put it off til mid April, which is right on schedule for me. What was I afraid of? I don’t really know, maybe that no one would read my blog, or worse, that someone might. I have a huge fear of the unknown, which is a great way to never have to leave your comfort zone.

I write mostly about my boys and the issues involved in raising a teenager. I also write about other moms and women who inspire me to stretch myself, broaden my horizons. I also have regular contests and giveaway, just to liven things up a bit.

There are so many that I love. I began reading Scribbit because she has great blogging tips, but I discovered she also has great craft ideas and recipes. I enjoy reading Christine Kane’s blog for inspiration, and I love the beautiful photography and the photography tips on Shutter Sisters.

Just do it. There’s alway fear of the unknown, but don’t let it hold you back. I felt at first like I was taking such a leap all by myself, but this is a great community of bloggers and everyone is very willing to help.

As a relatively new blogger I crave comments. I do want to know people are reading and responding to my blog. Also as a mom of a teenager - uncharted territory for me - I constantly seek feedback from other moms of teens.

I heard about blogging several years ago. My first reaction was 1) who would write about their life on the internet for the world to read and 2) who would read that. It’s funny how things change, huh?

I actually read dooce first and was immediately certain that there was no way I could ever do that. I was very intimidated, to put it mildly. But I kept reading and discovered a whole wonderful blogosphere out there, with moms just like me. I kept finding new blogs to read, and lots of support and advice for starting a blog, so I finally took the plunge.

My children and husband inspire me to slow down and enjoy the small moments of bliss that we have, to treasure each stage of life and not try to rush through it.

There are many bloggers who inspire me to live a more peaceful life, to set my sights higher, and to continue to grow and learn.
